Wang dispatches Jiang to win women's title

In badminton, World number one Wang Yihan of China beat her compatriot Jiang Yanjiao in straight games to lift the women's singles title at the Hong Kong Open Super Series tournament.

In the all-China women's singles, top seed and world number one Wang Yihan wasted little time in asserting her dominance over Jiang Yanjiao. After wining the first game 21-13, Wang continued to dominate the second game, racing to a 12-7 lead.

She closed out the match 21-15 when a Jiang return found the net. It was the second consecutive title for Wang as she had won the French Open title in Paris two weeks ago.

Lee Chong Wei beats Peter Gade to win men's title

Fan favourite and top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia took on Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark in the men's singles final. The Malaysian jumped into an early lead in the first game. Lee's deceptive shot making skills were at their best against Gade, and he led 14-8.

Lee would win the first game 21-13 but the Dane would come right back by winning the second game with a similar score line 21-13.

In the decider, Lee raced to a 17-11 lead. The Malaysian would then wrap up the match with a neat down the line smash on a Gade serve. Lee won 21-13, 13-21, 21-16 in just about an hour. It was Lee's sixth singles title of the season while Gade lost a chance to regain the title that he won back in 1997.

Wins for Chinese, Polish and Korean pairs

In the all-Chinese women's doubles match, the fourth seeded pair of Ma Jin and Wang Xiaoli, playing in purple tops, came back after losing the first game to beat their compatriots and third seeded pair of Jing Du and Yang Yu. Final score was 16-21, 21-19, 21-12.

In the mixed doubles, Poland's unseeded pair of Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczy won their first ever Super Series title when they beat the third seeded Indonesian pair Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir in two straight games 22-20, 21-16.

In the men's doubles, third seeded South Korean pair of Jae Sung Jung and Yong Dae Lee stormed back after losing the first game to the seventh seeded Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen of Denmark.
