Ford has introduced to the public the Ford GT Carbon Series supercar. This version is the lightest in the history of the American car company, produced in limited numbers. Due to the use of carbon fiber everywhere around the car, Ford can significantly reduce the car’s weight, improving the performance, which is already stunning.

Ford GT Carbon Series to Return and Compete on the Supercar Market

What’s New on the Ford GT Carbon Series?

The Ford GT Carbon Series is a limited model of the Ford GT that comes with various improvements over the base model, such as:

Carbon fiber construction

The Ford GT Carbon Series uses lightweight carbon fiber to reduce weight and improve performance.

Aerodynamics

The Ford GT Carbon Series features aerodynamic enhancements, such as a larger rear wing, to improve stability at high speeds.

Unique color options

The Ford GT Carbon Series is available in a limited selection of unique color options, which sets it apart from the standard model.

Engine and power output

The Ford GT Carbon Series is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque.

Suspension and braking

The Ford GT Carbon Series features a suspension and braking system specifically tuned for track performance.

Interior and technology

The Ford GT Carbon Series has a luxurious interior with advanced technology, such as a digital dashboard and infotainment system.

Limited availability

The Ford GT Carbon Series is a limited-edition model, with only a small number of units produced and sold worldwide.

Is the New Ford GT’s Engine More Powerful?

The Ford GT Carbon Series does not have more power than the standard Ford GT. Instead, it uses the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. This engine has been specifically developed for the Ford GT and can propel the car from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.

However, due to the use of carbon fiber and other light materials, like titanium, on various components, the Ford GT Carbon Series should perform better. The lighter the vehicle, the less energy it needs to get moving. Less weight also reduces rolling resistance - a force that prevents forward motion as the wheels travel along the road.

How Much Carbon is Used on the New Ford GT?

The Ford GT Carbon Series features a significant amount of carbon fiber, as the “Carbon Series” designation suggests. Carbon fiber is a lightweight and robust material often used in high-end vehicles to reduce weight and improve performance.

Carbon fiber is also used in the Ford GT Carbon Series’ wheels, suspension, interior components, body, and chassis. These components can help improve the car’s performance, aerodynamics, and weight. And, thanks to this ultra-light material, the new Ford GT has lost 18 kg compared to the standard version.

The car also uses lightweight components like titanium exhaust pipes and screws and a synthetic plastic bonnet with two sizable heat vents. These components help reduce vehicle weight, improving performance and enhancing the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal.

How Many of These Ford GTs Are Made?

The production of the Ford GT began in 2016 and ended in 2020, and only over 4,000 Ford GTs were built. The number of Ford GT Carbon Series within that total production is still undisclosed, but only 67 units have likely been produced so far.

Only one exterior color and two carbon stripes running from the front to the back are available. Customers can select from 4 additional colors, including red, blue, orange, and silver, for the middle stripes, brake calipers, and mirror covers.

Ford GT Carbon Series Price Is Astronomical

Given the Ford GT Carbon Series’ limited production, it is difficult to provide an exact price because it could change depending on the demand and the car’s condition.

Because it is a limited-edition version of the Ford GT supercar, the Ford GT Carbon Series is likely to have a staggering price tag. The Ford GT had a base price of about $450,000. However, the Carbon Series will cost even more than the base model.
