Description
English: Museum mannequin dressed in a uniform worn by a member of the paramilitary Norwegian organization Hirden in German-occupied Norway during the Second World War from 1940 to 1945. Hirden (or Rikshirden) was the uniformed, but unarmed branch of Vidkun Quisling's Fascist party and collaborationist organization Nasjonal Samling (NS) in the country during the war.
  • The dark blue uniform resembles a typical sports outfit of the time and a simplified combination of the uniforms worn by the German Nazis' Brownshirts in the Sturmabteilung and their elite troops in the SS:
    • Peaked ski cap with chin strap and NS' "eagle-and-suncross" emblem.
    • Double-breasted jacket with open collar, sewn-on outer pockets and shoulder straps
    • Long ski pants
    • Brown shirt and black tie
    • Waist belt with a cross strap over the right shoulder
    • Ankle boots
    • Black armband sewn to the upper left sleeve, adorned with the party's sun cross (sun wheel) symbol in red and yellow, with two upward-pointing swords as the emblem of the Hird

Hirden var uniformerte gatetropper av «politiske soldater» i Nasjonal Samling (NS), Quislings nasjonalistiske fascistparti i Norge fra 1933 til 1945. Partiets ideologiske medlemsorganisasjoner var organisert etter militært mønster, og uniformsbruken var inspirert av det tyske nazistpartiet før og under krigen. Fra 1933 var det forbudt med politiske uniformer i Norge. Forbudet ble opphevet under den tyske okkupasjonen av landet, da NS etter hvert ble eneste lovlige, «statsbærende» parti, men fortsatte etter krigen og varte helt til 2015. Hirdmennene var ubevæpnet.
