American Gothic Parody

American Gothic is a painting by Grant Wood. Wood painted American Gothic in 1930. It depicts a farmer and his spinster daughter. They both show the traditional roles of men and women in the 1930’s. The man has a pitchfork in his hand that depicts hard labor. There are flowers over the woman’s right shoulder that shows domesticity.
