A beautiful yet terrifying poster displaying a rain of bombs dropped from above.

The poster was made during World War II in Denmark as the country was occupied by Nazi-Germany.

In the darkest days of the occupation the "Air Defense Association" was established.

The association worked together with scouts and Danish Women's Emergency Management Agency (DKB). They build protective shelters in case of bomb attacks, made emergency and evacuation plans. The scouts were also to function as ordinances and DKB as a social service with responsibility for cooking, nursing and similar tasks.

This poster promotes "Air Defense Day" in order to recruit members to the association.

This poster was created by the Danish illustrator Arne Ungermann (1902-1981) who is one of the greatest poster artists from Denmark. Ungermann made several iconic posters many of which is very valuable today.
