I am so so excited and honored to be speaking at the 77th edition of the #Cannes #Film #Festival! And for a very very special occasion to celebrate Pluto TV 10th anniversary 😍 Ten years ago, on April Fool’s Day, #PlutoTV was born out of a contrarian idea, starting the era of free-ad supported television (#FAST), and changing the media industry forever. During the session, Olivier Jollet, Executive Vice President and International General Manager of Pluto TV will take the audience through Pluto TV's journey over the past decade, and reveal how the platform went from being what many thought was a gamble, to becoming an industry leader and a billion-dollar business. I will provide insights an a deep-dive into the evolution of the #FAST, touching on content strategy, business model, its synergies with SVOD services and what lies ahead. In this #film, presented Out of Competition in #Cannes in 1991, a grandmother who was a victim of the #Nagasaki bombing on August 9, 1945, passes on her faith in love and integrity as a bulwark against war to her grandchildren and her American nephew, with tenderness and contemplation. Mirroring the movie theater, this poster celebrates the Seventh Art, with naivety and wonder. Because it gives everyone a voice, it enables emancipation. Because it remembers wounds, it combats oblivion. Because it bears witness to perils, it calls for union. Because it soothes trauma, it helps repair the living. In a fragile world that constantly questions otherness, the Festival de Cannes reaffirms a conviction: cinema is a universal sanctuary for expression and sharing. Who remembers the song….: “Neighbours, Everybody needs good neighbours With a little understanding You can find the perfect blend Neighbours...should be there for one another That's when good neighbours become good friends”…. And this reminds me the streaming world!! All video streamers, pay, free, hybrid … they all need good friends! Bundling is key for growth of all streaming services, the shape and form of those partnerships/ bundles can vary from company to company… And that’s why at Omdia we never spoke about streaming wars… we always called it the streaming “make friends” world…. There are no enemies out there… just potential partners, neighbours that can became friends ;-) Operators have historically collaborated with streamers for next-generation telco bundles, but the future of streaming extends beyond this. Services are now being marketed and resold across various sectors, including banking, airlines and consumer goods and services.
