Danish Frikadeller Meatballs is my recipe of the day. I had been wanting to make these a few months ago, but time got away from me. So I am taking the opportunity today since it is of interest in a cooking group where we are making Danish recipes.

What are Frikadeller made of?

People in Denmark traditionally make Frikadeller with pork and veal. They mix the meatballs with onions and garlic, eggs, oatmeal, breadcrumbs, and seasonings such as coriander, ginger, nutmeg, salt and pepper.

How are Frikadeller Cooked?

Shape the meatballs into boulettes and fry them in oil for 10-15 minutes or until done.

What should be served with Frikadeller?

Frikadeller is traditionally served at holidays but also throughout the year. You can serve these meatballs plain with a dipping sauce such as Danish mustard. Alternatively, you can place them in a brown gravy (Brun Sovs) like Swedish meatballs. Another option is to add them to soups along with dumplings for a comforting meal.
