There is little doubt that Anfield is one of, if not the greatest place to experience a football match. There are much bigger venues such as Camp Nou, Wembley and others. However, the home of the Reds has an aura all its own.

Yet, finally we are seeing the maximum capacity of Anfield reaching a new landmark and it is very exciting.

The Anfield Road Expansion, which focused on adding seating mostly to the upper levels, was hit with multiple delays and snags as a myriad of issues arose during the process.

That has all led to now, where the Anfield Road stand will open up close to an additional 3,000 previously unavailable spots for fans. This will push the capacity to a healthy 60,000, a number to not be ignored.

There are two further rows that are planned to be added to the lower tier of the same end as well. When those are fully furnished, we will be talking about a weekly crowd capacity of around 61,000 to watch Liverpool.

The timing of this could not be better as the Reds are expected to set an attendance record for Saturday's Premier League visit from Burnley.

Coming off perhaps their worst performance of the season, having 3,000 extra supporters in the building can only be a good thing.

We have seen and heard Anfield rocking to its core on many occasions. That is the magic of it. But now, that magic can be enhanced even further. Not to mention what an additional 3,000-4,000 fans every home match can do the for the coffers of the club.

This was a project that should ideally pay itself off and more as the years go by. Even more important, the fans experience has been enhanced and what was already a nightmare trips for opponents just got harder.

Anfield will own the fourth highest stadium capacity in the Premier League behind only Old Trafford, Tottenham Stadium and London Stadium.
