His Contribution to Wind Energy
Wind energy has been developing over around the last 200 years. From propelled boats along the Nile River in Egypt, in around 5000 B.C. to 200 B.C to the modern wind turbines today. One scientist who made a significant contribution to wind energy was a French inventor, Georges Jean Marie Darrieus. In 1931, invented the Darrieus wind turbine, a type of vertical axis wind turbine with two curved blades bent to attach to the top and bottom of a rotating vertical pole, also known as an “eggbeater” shape turbine. In doing this, the Savonius wind turbine was invented. This invention was combined with the invention that Darrieus discovered and created, allowing room for more ideas of inventions.
