Do you have tenants in a multi-family home? Monitoring water usage accurately is a challenge that is solved by installing submeters. To help property owners save water and money during the current severe drought, Valley Water offers $150-$300 rebates for installing qualifying submeters and water meters. These meters will allow you to better monitor water use, detect leaks and identify other maintenance issues. You can also see how much water you are saving by following conservation measures.
A Valley Water study found that housing complexes adding submeters reduced water use by 15 to 30 percent. Submeters can help reduce water bills at your complex, lower rent and HOA dues by excluding water costs, encourage residents to fix or report leaks, help with long-term maintenance, and make residents responsible for the cost of their water use.
The rebate is only available for properties that have not yet installed submeters. There is no maximum rebate when you follow these application steps. To apply, please click here to complete the required steps before installing new submeters. The installation must be completed within 90 days of receiving a Notice to Proceed. A check will be issued approximately eight weeks after all application requirements have been met.
Rebates are available until June 30, 2023, or until funding is depleted. Apply today!

You mention install must be done within 90 days. We have been told that it takes Weights and Measures several months to certify the meters – doesn’t this need to be done prior to install? What if they don’t make this deadline?

Thank you for mentioning that submeters can lower your complex’s water expenses. My father relocated to a new home. I’ll advise my father to acquire Submetering so that he can reduce his energy and water expenses.
