“Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky.” When you hear the words from Alfred Tennyson’s classic poem, you probably think of Skansen (at least in Sweden), the city’s most famous place to celebrate the New Year in Stockholm. The New Year’s celebration dates back to 1895 and is a recurring tradition for many. And since it is also broadcast live by Swedish television (SVT), you actually celebrate the New Year with the entire Sweden.

Skansen organizes Stockholm’s largest public event on New Year’s Eve. On-site at Sollidenplan, you can view the whole city while enjoying a packed program with entertainment from some of Sweden’s most famous artists. At twelve o’clock, a well-known profile reads the New Year’s poem as usual, and then it’s just to continue the party as long as you can bear it.
