Honeycomb Coral Slime Mold (Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa)

Honeycomb coral slime mold or "coral slime" (Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa) is a very widespread and frequently encountered Myxomycete whose distinctive shape makes it unlikely to be mistaken for any other species. Mature fruiting bodies are comprised of branched structures that resemble tropical corals or even ice sculptures! These whimsical myxos are most commonly translucent white, but can occasionally be found sporting yellow tones.
