Zustand: Sehr gut, neuwertig. - Willy Gretor, eigentlich Wilhelm Petersen (1868-1923), zählt wohl zu den schillerndsten Personen, die im Kunstbetrieb und Kunsthandel um 1900 agiert haben. Das vorliegende Buch stellt die erste umfassende Untersuchung seiner Tätigkeitsfelder dar: als Bohemien, Kunstsammler, Mäzen und Kunstagent. Infiziert vom Nietzsche-Virus begründete er 1890 in Paris einen Bohemezirkel, dem die Malerinnen Maria Slavona, Rosa Pfäffinger, Ivana Kobilca, der Bildhauer Hans Birch Dahlerup sowie der spätere Verleger Albert Langen angehörten. Als Mäzen unterstützte Gretor den dänischen Literaturhistoriker Georg Brandes, aber auch die Schriftsteller Knut Hamsun, Frank Wedekind und August Strindberg. Seine Kunstsammlung enthielt neben Werken alter Meister bereits seit 1891 sechs Gemälde von Vincent van Gogh. Entscheidend war ebenso Gretors Handeln als Kunstagent für den Generaldirektor der Berliner Museen, Wilhelm Bode, der über ihn die spektakulärsten Erwerbungen im 2.
