Will the mom-shaming ever end, folks? This time around, Jessica Simpson happens to be in the hot seat, getting a few people on the internet upset because she let her seven-year-old daughter, Maxwell, dye the ends of her hair. (Insert eye roll here.)
It all started Wednesday, July 31, when Simpson took to Instagram to share an adorable photo of her daughter, who had just dyed the ends of her hair pink and purple. The picture features Maxwell smiling softly at the camera with her newly colored strands and the caption, "Inspired by The Descendants #901girl #MAXIDREW." For those who don't know, Simpson is referring to Dove Cameron's character, Mal, who has purple hair in the show.

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for Instagram trolls to weigh in with their unsolicited opinions. People are judging Simpson for letting her young daughter dye her hair, leaving comments like, "So young its a shame," "Isn’t she too young to have her hair dyed?," and "What’re u doing she is so young now out there for all the wrong reasons 🙁☹️🙁☹️."
On the other hand, a slew of fans are sticking up for Simpson, criticizing the people who are being so judgmental about her decision. They're fighting back with messages like, "Do people really have to mum shame! What jess does with her children is her business. It looks great!!❤️" and "What she and her daughter do to her hair is none of anyone's business 👍 💕."
It goes without saying that it's never okay to shame people for innocuous parenting decisions — especially over something so silly as hair.
