If you've flipped or scrolled through the pages of any design magazine or blog, you're likely to be familiar with Ray and Charles Eames's iconic lounge chair. The walnut-and-leather design has become near ubiquitous in a certain type of well-styled (or brand-conscious) interior since its conception in 1956. Once place you might not expect to see the omnipresent seat, though? Costco.

As our friends at Apartment Therapy pointed out on Friday, design-savvy shoppers spotted the high-end piece at one of the discount store's locations in Palm Desert, California. The asking price? $3,899.99. While the chairs for (and on) sale appeared to be authentic Herman Miller, a representative for the company told Apartment Therapy that Costco is not, unsurprisingly, an authorized retailer. The lounge has since been removed from Costco's website, but if you happen to pass by one of the stores, pop in to try your chances at snagging an unusual design deal.
