Niels Walseth was born in 1914 in Kolding, Denmark. He received artistic training from Jacob Meyer and studied at the Technical University of Copenhagen. Walseth made study trips throughout Europe, including Germany, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Norway, and Switzerland. He was influenced by the painting of Peder Monsted and used various pseudonyms such as "A. Giraldo", "A. Ravello", "G. Caprino", "F. Brinicardi" and Carl Soderberg or Söderberg.
