2025 Audi A4, S4 Will Reportedly Go All-Electric With Impressive Range, Performance
While it will still be sold in ICE A5 form, the 2025 Audi A4 and S4 will have plenty to offer with up to 400 miles of range and 500+ horsepower.
We’ve known for some time now that Audi plans to electrify its entire lineup over the coming years, somewhat shunning ICE as it eventually aims to complete its all-electric transition. Thus, it’s no surprise to learn that the 2025 Audi A4 will follow suit, but now, Autocar has secured some more details as to what we can expect from that particular model – along with its high-performance S4 counterpart – both of which will arrive packing impressive range and performance.
As is the case with its other EV models, the 2025 Audi A4 will ride on VW Group’s dedicated PPE architecture, with styling similar to the A6 and Q6 e-tron models. This means that the sedan will feature short overhangs, sharply raked greenhouses, and a low-slung appearance. It – along with the company’s other PPE-based models – “have great proportions, which makes our designers very happy,” said Audi technical boss Oliver Hoffmann.
Like the new Q6 e-tron – set to arrive early next year – the 2024 Audi A4 will feature next-level tech and a new nickel-manganese-cobalt battery with around 100 kWh of usable capacity, giving it a reported 400 miles of range in its most efficient spec. The new A4 EV will also tout 800V charging hardware, giving it the ability to charge at speeds of up to 270kW, adding 155 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
As far as trims go, the 2025 Audi A4 lineup will have plenty to offer, including everything from the entry-level rear-wheel drive A4 e-tron sedan to the dual-motor all-wheel drive A4 45 e-tron packing around 400 horsepower up to the S4 e-tron, which will reportedly offer up as much as 510 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of around four seconds flat. An RS badged model remains a strong possibility, too, one that could arrive sporting some rather audacious styling cues and even an “acceleration soundtrack.”
It is worth noting that while the 2025 Audi A4 will in fact be going all-electric, it will also be sold alongside a brand-new ICE equivalent, albeit with the A5 nameplate – chiefly because the brand is keen to reserve even numbers for its EV models. Thus, those that still prefer to tool around in a gas-powered Audi model will apparently still be able to do that – at least for the foreseeable future.
