PREVIEW: Sky Blues travel to Deepdale this weekend

City travel up the M6 to face PNE...

3 November 2023

The Sky Blues are back on the road for the final time before the international break, as they travel to Deepdale to face Preston North End.

Meet PNE:

An impressive start to the season has hit a roadbloack in recent weeks, as Preston North End head into this weekend's clash, seven games without a win.

A win against Birmingham City in September saw PNE sit top of the Championship after seven fixtures, following six wins and one draw to start the season.

However, following that recent run, Ryan Lowe's side currently sit 9th, one point outside of the top six.

Leading the goalscoring charts at Deepdale are three new additions to the Club over the summer, in the form of Duane Holmes, Will Keane and Mads Frøkjær-Jensen.

Mark Robins Quotes:

“He’s a bright coach, a fairly new manager who’s been promoted a few times now with Plymouth and Bury.

“He's got a strong squad. There's been some changes there and, and he's brought some good players in and they're always powerful and that hasn't changed, he's got some quality players in there that that can cause you problems and obviously strong defenders in there as well.

“They’ve got a decent Championship mix, with some good talented players in there and I think he's done a really good job.”

Ryan Lowe Quotes:

“Mark Robins has done a fantastic job. He’s taken them right the way through the divisions to within touching distance of the Premier League so they’ve proven it can be done.

“They’re a good footballing team. They probably haven’t started as well as they’d have liked, but they still create chances so we have to be wary of these types of teams.”
