Kurt Westi

Kurt Westi trained in Copenhagen, Berlin and Mantua. In 1986-89 he was with the opera in Mannheim, where he sang roles like Alvaro, Riccardo, Don Carlos, Radames, Cavaradossi, Hoffmann, Rodolfo and Pinkerton. In 1992-93 he was with the Deutsche Oper and also performed for example in Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Trieste and Madrid. He has recorded for Phillips, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon and other labels, and has recently concluded his first international opera recording for Decca in Schulhoff's The Flame. In recent years Kurt Westi has had great success at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen in roles like Calaf in Turandot and Pollione in Norma. Kurt Westi unexpectedly died in 1997.
