John Terry's wife agrees to give cheating England and Chelsea captain 'one last chance'

The sun may have been shining. The pool temperature was perfect.

But John Terry's betrayed wife Toni appeared to be under the darkest of personal clouds in Dubai yesterday.

Pictured for the first time since the revelations of her husband's affair, she barely raised a smile as she lay by the side of her five-star hotel's pool while her three-year-old twins played around her.

While they splashed and laughed, Mrs Terry, 28, remained stern-faced and appeared to be lost in her own thoughts.

The glamorous brunette wore a skimpy black and pink bikini. In a sign that may give the England captain hope he can save his marriage, she continued to wear her large diamond engagement ring.

And last night it was claimed that Mrs Terry has agreed to give him one more chance - but with a caveat that if the strays again she will restrict his access to his children.

She made her demand yesterday during an emotional 45-minute phone call from Dubai.

According to a friend, Mrs Terry decided to accept her husband's version of events, believing that the affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-partner of his former Chelsea team-mate Wayne Bridge, was nothing but a 'silly fling'.

'Toni's given him the benefit of the doubt,' the friend told the Daily Mirror.

'JT insists it was a silly fling and didn't mean anything. She's chosen to believe his version rather than what everyone else is telling her.

'Frankly, she's been through all this before but not as bad as this. But if he steps out of line again she will throw him out and make sure he has as little contact with his kids as possible.

That's the thing that will force him to focus. He loves his kids more than anything.

'Toni has also told him that she doesn't want him speaking publicly about it and if there is any apologising to be done, it will be to her.'

Mrs Terry is staying in Dubai with the couple's twins Georgie John and Summer Rose and her parents Sue and Alan.

'John took Toni to Dubai on their honeymoon,' the friend added.

'She loves the place. Being there without him and knowing what he has done makes it so much more painful.

'Her folks are looking after the children and she's crying behind closed doors. She's so in love with John.

'They've known each other since they were kids but he's repeatedly hurt her.'

Mrs Terry is, however, said to have engaged divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton - who represented Prince Charles, Madonna and Sir Paul McCartney.

It has been reported that Terry has been granted special dispensation to miss one of Chelsea's matches so he can travel to Dubai to try to patch up the marriage.

Last night, Terry was the focus for chants and booing during a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Hull in the Premiership.

Fans subjected the Chelsea captain to relentless abuse, with chants including: 'Same old Terry, always cheating' and 'Terry, Terry, where's your wife?'

Yesterday, however, it emerged that Cheryl Cole, wife of Terry's team-mate Ashley Cole, has declared her support for Bridge.

The X-Factor judge, whose husband has faced allegations of infidelity himself, has been in touch with Bridge to sympathise with him.

Miss Perroncel is considering selling the story of her affair with Terry, whose wife was one of her best friends. The affair is said to have lasted for four months.

It allegedly began in September, and Terry is said to have paid for her to have an abortion in October.

Miss Perroncel, a French lingerie model, is also facing claims of an affair with another - unnamed - Premier League footballer.

Last night, it was not known if Ashley Cole was aware that his wife got in touch with Bridge, putting her on opposite sides from both Terry and Miss Perroncel.

Mrs Cole is understood to have told Bridge how 'sad' she felt and that she too had been through some difficult times.

The singer told the Manchester City player that if there was 'anything she could do' to help him or his young son Jaydon she was 'there for him'.

Bridge, 29, is understood to have told Mrs Cole that her support meant a 'great deal' to him on the day he had an 'emotional reunion' with his former partner and child.

The Coles had previously been friendly with Bridge and Miss Perroncel, and holidayed together in the South of France last summer.

Mrs Cole's messages came as details emerged of how Miss Perroncel had met a string of celebrities and footballers - particularly Chelsea players - after arriving in Britain from France ten years ago.

Miss Perroncel soon got a job as a hostess at the Elysium nightclub in Soho, where Chelsea players were regulars in the VIP area.

Miss Perroncel and other club waitresses would be paid around £150 a week but the girls would heavily supplement the meagre wage with tips from club guests.

One source at Chelsea said players were warned that Miss Perroncel was 'on the lookout for a footballer' and she is thought to have dated at least two of the club's players before going out with Bridge.

'Her ambition in life was to become a WAG and she worked at the club six years ago knowing she would bump into players on a regular basis,' said a Chelsea insider.

She is said to have got to know other players well including striker Eidur Gudjohnssen.

Last night, former Steps member Lee Latchford Evans spoke about his relationship with Vanessa Perroncel.

The singer, who was with the French model for two years after meeting her at a Smash Hits awards ceremony in 1999, said she was always keen on fame, and left him because he was not high profile or rich enough.

Speaking to The Daily Mirror, the 35-year-old said: 'Vanessa is the type that likes to be looked after, to be treated well.

'You have to have money to be able to do that. That's what she always wanted. That's what she's about.

'She was always going to move on to bigger fish. I gave her a taste of celebrity and she wanted more.

'Footballers earn hundreds of thousands a week. She knew how to climb the ranks.

'She was always going to be with someone who could look after her and who was very good at what they do. She found that with me and she's found that with other people.'

The star admitted 'she liked Prada' and was destined to end up with a rich footballer, after their relationship fizzled out in 2002.

He said: 'I believe she would always have ended up with someone that was successful and would be able to look after her.

'I would like to think she fancied me, even if I was a builder with my bum hanging out of my trousers.

'But I am sure deep down it does help if you've a little bit of security behind you. I don't think she would have accepted anything else.'

Asked whether she used him to raise her profile, he said: 'Let's not be naive. If someone is out there with a celebrity on her arm, of course they'll get spotted.

'I would like to think I was not used but I am not naive enough to say fame didn't play a part.'

Once a party animal...

Dirty dancing with a brunette in a club and draped over blondes at a bar, this was John Terry enjoying his stag party.

Just one week before he tied the knot in 2007 with his childhood sweetheart Toni Poole, Terry was trying his luck with women during his time in Portugal.

Although he was with his team-mates it was the women in the club he was more interested in spending time with.

And if this was not enough to worry his bride-to-be, his behaviour post-wedding should have sent out a warning as he shunned a romantic honeymoon with Toni.

Instead the Barking boy, who has a penchant for gambling, went to Las Vegas with teammates Wayne Bridge, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole.
