They both dominated the headlines last year for their high-profile relationships.

But it looks like Alex Reid and Vanessa Perroncel could be the latest celebrity couple given their closeness last night.

The unlikely pair attended the FHM Sexiest Women In The World 2011 party in London together, prompting speculation that they are romantically involved.

Although they posed separately on the red carpet, the cagefighter, 35, and French model, 33, arrived and left together in the same car.

Seated in the back of the vehicle, Reid looked very tactile as he chatted to the curvy brunette.

Perroncel, who has a four-year-old son, Jaydon, with her ex, footballer Wayne Bridge, showed off her lingerie model figure in a bodycon dress and towering pink heels.

Regardless of the nature of their friendship, it is likely they've bonded because both have been portrayed in a negative light over the fall-out of their relationships.

Perroncel has repeatedly denied allegations that she had an affair with married England footballer John Terry, who obtained a super-injunction.

But in January 2010, a High Court judge removed the injunction on the grounds that freedom to discuss moral issues was vital to society and because Terry may have been trying to protect his commercial sponsorships.

Although the French model insisted she was just 'friends' with Terry, her ex-partner Bridge quit the England team and refused to shake his former teammate's hand during a game at Stamford Bridge in February last year.

During an interview last summer, Perroncel spoke fondly about her ex-partner Bridge, who she split from in 2009 after four years together, and hinted she would like to get back together with him.

However, Bridge has been dating Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford since December last year.

Like Perroncel, Reid has also been portrayed in a negative light.

When his estranged wife Katie Price announced their split in a lengthy statement four months ago, she accused him of being 'fascinated by life in the media eye'.

Last month, Perroncel returned to the spotlight when she spoke out against the increasing use of super-injunctions to protect the identity of predominantly rich men.

She said: 'They are being used too much at the moment. It’s getting out of hand. I think it’s unfair the way they are being used. Obviously it’s a very expensive thing to do. It’s only really there for the rich… I guess that can have this luxury.

'The papers are pretty much allowed to report about anything so why change it now, why change all the rules for different people and people that have got power and money? And is it OK for the ones with no money to be exposed or to be talked about?’

When asked on Radio 4’s World at One show whether Terry’s attempt to secure a super-injunction had exacerbated the situation, she said: ‘It probably made it worse, for sure.’
