A huge crowd swarmed round a marked police van in Edinburgh during a Pro-Palestine protest.

Pictures from the scene at Bristo Square on Saturday shows scores of people in attendance for the rally at around 3pm.

The demonstration was showing solidarity with Palestinians that have been ‘under siege’ during the conflict with Hamas since October 7.

In pictures shared with Edinburgh Live, four vehicles were pictured at the scene with 12 officers visible too.

A 73-year-old man was later arrested by officers in connection with an un-notified procession.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following a protest in Edinburgh, a 73-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with un-notified procession.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
