After the very literal carnage of Venom 2 and a brief cameo in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Eddie Brock and Venom have some unfinished business to attend to in this upcoming threequel

What is the Venom 3 release date?

Venom 3 will be released in theatres worldwide on November 8, 2024.

The film was originally supposed to be released on July 11, 2024. Principal photography began in June 2023, but production was shut down by the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Tom Hardy confirmed the movie resumed production following the strikes in an Instagram post in November 2023.

Venom 3 will conclude Sony Pictures’ Spidey-adjacent films in 2024, with Kraven the Hunter arriving on August 30, 2024, and Madame Web already out.

Who’s in the Venom 3 cast?

Tom Hardy is confirmed for Venom 3 for the Venom 3 cast and will be joined by newcomers Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The full cast has yet to be announced.

Venom 3 cast list:

  • Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom
  • Juno Temple as TBA
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor as TBA
  • Clark Backo as TBA
  • Peggy Lu as Mrs. Chen

There’s no full list confirmed yet, so the above names are coming from IMDb.

It’s possible that Stephen Graham could return as Detective Patrick Mulligan and, given his fate in the preceding movie, we think he will become Toxin. We will hopefully see Michelle Williams return, too, as we’d love to see more of her as She-Venom.

Ted Lasso star Juno Temple has joined the cast, though her role is unknown. Similarly, Chiwetel Ejiofor — whom most of you will know as Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange — is on board.

Is there a Venom 3 trailer?

There isn’t a trailer for Venom 3 yet. The first trailer for Venom 2 arrived five months before the movie’s release date, so we can probably expect a Venom 3 trailer in June 2024.

What is Venom 3 about?

The Venom 3 plot is unknown, but judging by the new title — The Last Dance — we can expect the journey of Eddie Brock and the symbiote to end.

The No Way Home post-credits scene made it clear Venom is in the MCU.

The title was announced on March 13, and fans have already connected the dots between this and the career of Michael Jordan (as per the Netflix docuseries of the same name). Surely, then, this will be the great swansong for Venom, and the movie is likely to have a conclusive ending.

There is also the small matter of Brock being involved in the Spider-Man No Way Home post-credit scene. Having been transported to another dimension, albeit momentarily, we would find it odd if this wasn’t at least mentioned in the next Venom movie. However, you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up for a Venom versus Spider-Man showdown.

But, over on Hardy’s Instagram on March 1, 2023, the actor shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Venom 3, and it seems Eddie Brock is wearing the same outfit he wore in the post-credits scene of No Way Home. So, at the very least, this new movie will continue directly after that moment.

Tom Hardy and the crew from Venom 3
Hardy has shared several production updates on social media.

In an interview with Screen Rant, director Andy Serkis said, “I know everyone is desperate for Venom to meet Spider-Man. But I think there’s real mileage in some of the other supervillains that reside in Ravencroft. There’s such fertile ground to be uncovered there. That would be the sandbox I’d be really interested in playing in. Who’s lurking in there that could break out?”

Who knows, maybe even Morbius will have some impact on this story (please, don’t).

What has happened in the Venom movies so far?

Venom (2018):

A still from Venom
2018 was the release year of the original Venom movie.

In the first entry of Marvel’s anti-hero franchise, Eddie Brock is relieved of his duties as an investigative journalist after attempting to malign tech mogul, Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed).

Drake’s nefarious experiments with symbiotes lead to Brock’s encounter with Venom, an outer-space organism that needs a human host to survive. The pair work together to take down Drake for his crimes while learning they’re more alike than they thought.

After the dust has settled, Brock visits serial killer Cletus Kassidy (Woody Harrelson) in prison, though he might regret it.

Venom: Let There Carnage (2021):

Venom 2 introduced Carnage,

Shortly after the events of Venom, Eddie Brock is still in contact with Cletus Kassidy. Giving Brock newsworthy features to write about his crimes, Kassidy later attempts to attack Brock, prompting Venom to protect him.

Having revealed that Brock is harboring a secret and getting a taste of his blood, Kassidy later unleashes the deranged symbiote Carnage into the world. Kassidy’s troubled past catches up with him, as childhood flame Frances Berrison (AKA Shriek) aids him on his rampage.

Detective Patrick Mulligan (Stephen Graham) is caught in the crossfire as Venom defeats Carnage, though it is suggested Mulligan may embark on a symbiotic transformation of his own, possibly becoming Toxin in a future film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021):

In the post-credits of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock was transported to the MCU 616 universe and is confused about the existence of Spider-Man and other members of the Avengers.

Before he sets off to track down Spider-Man, Brock is transported back to the Sony Pictures universe, following Doctor Strange’s incantation to restore the multiverse (for now).
