It Chapter 2 director hints at potential for another Pennywise movie

Andy Muschietti has revealed that a solo movie could be made about It Chapter Two villain Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

The Argentinian director is returning to the world of Stephen King next month with the sequel to his 2017 hit It Chapter One, where the Losers' Club are now adults and must reunite to face their childhood demons (or shapeshifting, murderous demon in this case).

Although Pennywise will (probably) be conclusively destroyed in this movie, is there room for a potential prequel focussed on his creepy exploits?

Talking about that very notion with CinePOP recently, Muschietti reflected: "This is the conclusion of the book, so there is no part three. This is the end of the journey of the Losers against Pennywise.

"But, as we all know the mythology is very rich, and in Stephen King's book Pennywise has been around for a million years, he's been in contact with humans for at least five hundred years, and he comes back every 27 years," he continued.

"So, if you go back and back and back and back, you'll see a lot of drama."

When asked if he'd consider directing a Pennywise prequel, the filmmaker cryptically replied "Eventually", so make of that what you will – the door is certainly open in Muschietti's eyes.

It Chapter 2 is out on September 6 in the US and UK.
