Wayne, 36, and Vanessa, 38, have a son, Jayden, together and dated for five years before splitting in 2009.
It is understood that Vanessa asked Wayne whether he was heading down under but he lied to her.
A source told The Sun: "Vanessa was offered the jungle six years ago and refused.
"When she text Wayne to ask him if it was true or not he told her to ignore the gossip.

"The gloves could come off. Up until now she has refused many shows and interviews. That could be about to change."
In 2010, the footballing star and his model ex found themselves in the headlines after Vanessa was rumoured to have had a secret fling with John Terry.
Vanessa always denied the claims that she had had an affair with the married footballer, who is a former teammate of Wayne's.
Shortly after the allegations surfaced, Wayne famously refused to shake hands with the Chelsea star as their two teams met in a Premier League match.
Wayne is now married to The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, 27, with whom he has two children.
