For some time, folks were keen to modify the Ford Bronco in just about any way possible. Once values began skyrocketing, however, that quickly changed. Now, it’s all about originality, mileage, and all of the things that collectors look for in a vehicle. However, this 1980 Ford Bronco that was recently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer hits the sweet spot with just a couple of modifications, the sort of things that only enhance a vehicle – not detract from it.
The big blue 1980 Ford Bronco received a repaint at some point in life, but that’s certainly not a bad thing given how shiny and bright it is. The hardtop was also finished in the same color, lending a unique look to the rugged SUV. Pretty much everything else is stock, including all of the requisite trim and bumpers, save for the upgraded rolling stock – 15-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with 33×12.5-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A white letter tires.
To give this Bronco a bit more attitude and a nice stance, the previous owner treated it to a lift kit of unspecified proportions, which certainly gets the job done in more ways than one, To us, these Broncos look perfect with a small lift and some meatier tires, and don’t really need anything else. The previous owner seems to agree because they left the rest of this SUV pretty much alone.
That means a handful of factory amenities including power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, manually locking front hubs, and a very tidy interior with even more blue to complement the exterior. Since this is an XLT trimmed Bronco, it also has lots of faux wood accents, while other notable goodies here include air conditioning, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette radio. Power comes from Ford’s tried and true 351 V8, which is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.
