How do you avoid looking like a hot mess when it's a bazillion degrees outside? A high ponytail—it saves me from a major hair debacle every time. Plus, it gives me an instant face-lift! Would I like to wear my hair down in gorgeous waves? Yes, I would. But it looks good for like 10 minutes, and then all of a sudden it doesn't. My fool-proof motto: Whether a chic chignon, messy bun, or fishtail braid, always wear it up. Any long-lasting makeup tips? The trick is to layer products.

I always start with a cream blush on my cheeks and top it off with a bit of powder bronzer. If I'm outside for a long time, I'll dab the same cream blush over the bronzer for extra glow. The same goes for lipstick: Apply a matte stain (I love a hot pink shade for summer), blot with toilet paper, and dust translucent powder on top. Repeat. Then finish with a gloss if you want. I promise it won't bleed, and you won't need lip liner.

Genius! What are some of your hot-weather beauty staples?

Two words: waterproof mascara. If you don't use a waterproof formula, you can forget it. I love Lancôme's mascaras and the one from Sunday Riley. But here's the key to applying it: Swipe on one coat of regular mascara (it's less clumpy), then two coats of waterproof. No. Clumps. Ever. Also, a good deodorant is a must. I swear by Lavanila the Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Grapefruit because it actually works and smells so fresh! I also love those oil-absorbing blotting papers. They sop up grease and sweat without messing up your makeup. I mean, the only time sweat is a good thing is when you're working out, right?

Totally! Speaking of which, what are your summer workout secrets?

I love switching things up, so I'll do SoulCycle one day, walk the next, and do an hour of cardio the day after. That's my workout rule: Don't do the same thing every day—and sweat it out.

You're so hard-core.

You have to be when you've got 72 pounds to lose. That's how much I gained when I was pregnant with my son. I've never met a bread basket I didn't like, so I stick to a really strict workout regimen. It's really tough but totally worth it—especially when you're rocking a killer bikini at the beach this summer!
