The Coaching Hours is the fourth and final book in Ney’s How to Date a Douchebag series. I was equal parts excited and sad to read this book. I've been looking forward to it for the longest, but I hate knowing this series is coming to an end. It's been a wonderful ride!
The star of this book is the coach of the wrestling teams daughter. She is a transfer student and the coach has quite a list of rules from his players… the main one is no dating his daughter. The majority of the wrestlers heed this warning, but there are two that just can’t help themselves. But this heroine can handle herself.
I’ve been super vague about the characters in this book, but that’s only because I don’t want to spoil a thing for potential readers! Especially those that have read the entire series. I love all these characters. Even the ones I didn’t start out loving ended up stealing my heart. There was a particular character in this book that really changed his ways. I love what Ney did with him and no one was more surprised than me that I ended up loving him!
The Coaching Hours is funny, sweet, sexy, and emotional. Sara Ney is one funny lady. Seriously, even the chapter headings at the start of each new chapter had me laughing out loud. I adored this book and I adore this series! All the Douchebag books can be read as standalones, but I’m happy I read them all and read them in order! I wouldn’t have wanted to miss a single thing! Definitely recommend to lovers of sports romance/NA!

Those douchebags need to learn a lesson. And I’m just the girl to teach them.This story is a bit different than the others in this series. The douchebag hero is not to be found here. It’s not so much a sporty book like the others, but it is a very sweet friends to lovers story. A book about roommates that turn into more. It’s a bit of a slow burn and I loved that about it. I though the heroine was fantastic and I especially loved the hero. He is such a ‘nice guy’, and so sweet, caring, and all around fun.

I'm so sad. How to Date a Douchebag is over. It was so fun to read this series, get to know protagonists I had no idea I'd adore, and a sport I never knew I'd enjoy reading about. This whole series was a pleasant surprise, and it's a bittersweet feeling to let it go.
While there are no douchebags in the final installment—at least, not where it matters the most—The Coaching Hours gave as much as the other books and was a great end to the series. This sweet friends-to-lovers romance had everything I want in a New Adult romance—realistic characters still trying to figure out how to adult, learning from mistakes, and becoming better people because of it, great pace and banter, and chemistry that will leave me swooning and giggling.
As the wrestling coach's only daughter, transfer student Anabelle Donnelly is officially off-limits to the team. But Coach Donnelly's threat to stay away from his daughter or risk consequences only serves to challenge two incredibly stupid and careless members. This ends up with Anabelle in tears, taking refuge in the library spot she's claimed since moving.
Some girl, pretty as she is, took Elliot St. Charles's spot at the library, and now he's stuck settling for an inferior spot. When he discovers the same girl crying, he can't help but go to her and ask what's wrong. And that's how Elliot and Anabelle become more than passing acquaintances. And when Anabelle finds out Elliot has a spare room, they might just become roommates, too.
According to Elliot's friends, girls and boys can't stay just friends, especially if they're both relatively attractive and are going to live under one roof. Elliot wants to prove them wrong, but resisting his gorgeous roommate who's becoming one of his best friends is harder than he thinks.
We finally have Elliot's book! If he seems familiar, it's because he's the roommate of Oz and Zeke, the first two heroes of the franchise. Since reading those book, I got to know Elliot as the non-douchebag, non-jock friend; reliable, studious, and good. So it wasn't a surprise that I'd like him, and that Anabelle would like him instantly. He has a laser-sharp focus on his goal to get into a good grad school, but still knows how to have fun and meet up with friends.
Anabelle is great, if not a little too nice and trusting at one point. She works hard, is genuinely sweet and caring, and can give as good as they get. I think she has a great character growth in this book once the story comes to the plot twist. She handled it well, but it was still an accurate depiction of how one would feel and act if they go through what she does. It highlighted her strength as a person.
Sara Ney's witty writing style is here, along with the tension and fantastic steamy scenes that never fail to make me blush. The Coaching Hours had two endearing and likable characters with great rapport and heartwarming friendship between them, all with the sexual tension brewing slowly but steadily to a boiling point. The progression of Elliot and Anabelle's relationship was wonderful. Just the right amount of slow burn for their story.
And I just have to say this since I know you know how much I hated one of the secondary characters in the series, but he kind of grew on me when he became less of a douchebag, and there was a moment he was redeemed. I can't believe I'm saying this now, but I'm kind of interested to read about him.
If you're looking for a fun college sports romance with characters you'll love to hate, then give How to Date a Douchebag a try. And if you're looking for a swoony friends-to-lovers/roomies romance, you'll definitely love The Coaching Hours.

This final installment in the Douchebag series was the complete antithesis of why I was originally hooked on it. There are no douchebags, no cocky jock hero, no hate lust, no enemies to lovers vibes. But what it did have was a swoony, slow burn friend to lovers story that was full of sizzle and smiles.
There are no jocks to be found in this book. Well, not the main character anyway. But there is the coach's daughter, her friendship with a guy that she didn't see coming, and the development of their relationship from something sweet to something with a lot more sizzle.
I love a good friends to lovers trope, and this one delivered in spades. The progression of the relationship in this book was what really made it for me. It was just so perfectly paced. I loved getting a nice guy for once, though that's not to say he was without his own brand of issues. And while the book took a turn into a particular plot device that I'm not typically a fan of, it totally worked for me here. I also loved a particular secondary character that gets redeemed in this story. This served as the perfect icing on the cake.
This story was cute and swoony, and definitely hit the spot just right. There's a reason this author went straight to my auto-buy list from the very first book in this series; her versatility to deliver amazing characters that stand out in their own right is just a small part of it. I'm sad to see this series come to an end, but I can't wait to see what Sara Ney has in store for her readers next.

This book started out okay and had me intrigued about the main characters pretty quickly. I was interested in seeing how they would come together and when they did I enjoyed how everything played out. They were actually both very easy to like and individually I don't really have any complaints about them.
Unfortunately as the book went on I started to lose interest because I never felt that spark of chemistry between the characters. Other things came into play, such as a revenge plot that felt underdeveloped and immature, and it all kind of pushed the focus off of the romance. I wanted more from the actual main characters, I guess. Especially when the majority of the end all played out while they were going to two different schools and not physically together.
I also started to feel like the author was confused about who the Hero was at the end of the story when she brought in a character I personally hated and had him get closer to the heroine. I didn't feel like that character was redeemed enough to randomly be a "friend" to the heroine so it all seemed very odd to me. And the fact she was going through a big thing in her life and it wasn't the hero that was there with her for most of that just added to my confusion at the end.
Overall, this wasn't a bad story and I there were many parts I liked but in the end I wish there had more between the main characters. I think anyone that liked a well written NA novel will enjoy this one though so I definitely recommend if you have a craving for the campus good guy.

I was in love with him, and I want to point out that sometimes suffering through a love you never had is worse than suffering through one you did. Everything with Elliot and me was left unfulfilled.
I finally had to see what all the fuss was about for myself. There has been so much love for this series that my curiosity was piqued! Leave it to me to join the party late. I was able to follow the storyline easily even though there was mention of other characters from the previous books. That being said, this can be read as a standalone. While the previous Heroes have been ”Douchebags”, that cannot be said about the Hero of this one. Elliot St. Charles made this book one heck of a sweet, sexy enjoyable read!
When the story starts, it wasn’t clear who the Hero was going to be. There were two other characters who were on Iowa’s wrestling team who were vying for the Heroine’s affections but truth be told they were only in it to win a bet. Once Elliot and Anabelle have their first interaction in the storyline it was obvious that he was the man who was going to steal not only the Heroine’s heart but this reader’s too.
Anabelle is Coach Donnelly’s estranged daughter, who has recently transferred from her university in Massachusetts to finish out her college career at Iowa University. Her parents split up years ago and her mother has tried her hardest to keep Ana away from her father, but she’s twenty-one now and wants the opportunity to build a relationship with her Dad. While she wants to reconnect, she doesn’t necessarily want to live under his roof. Ana is desperate to find affordable housing near campus. After making a complete fool of herself by getting drunk at a frat party, a perfect opportunity practically falls into her lap. Elliot was at the party and saw that she needed rescuing and brings her back to his apartment to sleep it off. Their friendship only seems to strengthen from that point and soon they become roommates when she moves into his spare room.
From the moment they first met both Elliot and Ana secretly felt an attraction. They fell into an easy friendship and became an integral part of each other’s lives. Elliot was ever the perfect gentleman and incredibly sweet. His inability to read the situation that was building between Ana and him made him extremely endearing. The anticipation for things to heat up between the couple almost made me lose my mind!! Just wait for the Back Massage scene!! OMG! Holy freaking H-O-T-N-E-S-S!!!
Once things start to heat up for the couple, there is no quelling their insatiable desires. But the guy who has continuously been the ”Knight in Shining Armor” isn’t exactly ready to start a serious relationship. Elliot has had plans set in motion for some time which were in place before Ana became a part of his life. But Ana isn’t the kind of girl who can keep love and sex separate. She’s already fallen hard for the beautiful man who’s become the only true best friend she's ever had.
Will she be able to move on from Elliot? Can Elliot easily forget the woman who has somehow managed to claim a piece of his heart?

Overall Opinion: I felt like this one was disappointing. I have enjoyed this series overall, but I didn't really enjoy this one. It felt slow at first, and it took me a bit to get into it. I was blindsided along with the h by the H's behavior and I never felt like he earned her forgiveness. It felt like no grovel whatsoever! I also felt like the drama thrown in towards the end was a little OTT and cliche to where I disliked the H even more for his actions. The ending though?! Why didn't we get any time with them working things out? Or, again, any GROVEL?! They literally make up at 98% then we get a half-a$s epilogue (that seemed more about side characters than the mcs). Not my cuppa 😒
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Anabelle and Elliott's story. Anabelle is a transfer student at the college that her dad coaches wrestling. She finds out that there is a bet made to see who is the first to sleep with her, and Elliott consoles her when she is found crying in the library. They bump into each other a few more times. Since Anabelle is desperate to get out of her Dad's house, she ends up moving into Elliott's spare room. They form an instant friendship, and the more time they spend together the more they find it hard not to develop stronger feelings for one another. There is some significant roadblocks in their way though...but they do get a HFN ending.
POV: This alternated between Anabelle and Elliott's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Slow at first, but then it got better. I never skimmed though.
Instalove: No, they are friends first and then fall in love.
H rating: 2.5 stars. Elliott. I liked him, but then I didn't like him so much. He made some choices and said some hurtful things that ended up really bothering me.
h rating: 3.5 stars. Anabelle. I liked her. There were times where I wanted her to demand more from the H though.
Sadness level: Low/moderate. I teared up a few times, but I never needed any tissues.
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

➦For anyone who loves college romances, this series is highly recommended. I really enjoyed this book even though it was a bit different the first three books. Sara Ney just knows how to bring the feels and keep you glued to the pages and that's really one of the most important things, at least for me. I need to stay in the book and, even if I don't completely love the characters or their decisions, I as long as I keep reading - I'm a happy camper.
➦This book has a roommate trope in in, which evolves into something else. But I love love love roommate tropes and this one was definitely well done. The second part of the book went in a different direction than I thought it would, it kind of surprised me, actually. And that's okay, I like surprises. But it was a bit heavier than I expected, I guess. Still, I gobbled it up, thank you very much.
➦I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author. I really enjoy the writing as a whole. I do think that there are too many parts where sentences are missing a subject and most of the time it works. Sometimes it's a bit awkward, though. But what the hell do I know, I'm not a writer. I notice patterns, however, and my brain drives me nuts. :D But anywhatthehellamitalkignabout, great addition to the series and let it be sealed! And no, I will never run out of cute seal gifs.

But what does a gilr do when she falls in love with her roommate who is only going to stay until the end of the term?
Anabelle is a lovable heroine, she is pretty drama-free, extremely forgiving and sweet as candy. I understood why she fell head over heels in love with Elliott, he is a good guy with his heart in the right place. I loved their connection and friendship.
Elliott has a plan. One he isn't willing to give up for anything. He is determined to go to one of the best grad schools in his fields of study. I admire determination but there comes a point when you have to readjust your goals when unforeseen events happen in your life.
“Where do you want to end up?”
“I don’t know. I’m from Iowa, but I’d rather not stay in the area. There’s nothing for me here.”
A hard lump forms in my throat. “I see.”
“Do you?”
I loved Elliott for a good part of the book, he was lovely with Anabelle and a wonderful friend but at some point the decisions he made had me disconnect from him. That we only got to see Anabelle's point of view from that moment on until the end didn't help either to help me understand his thought process.
I understand that Rex Gunderson is a troublemaker and while he was a douchecanoe in the beginning he really grew on me. Of course the first douchebags Zeke and Oz made a cameo appearance.
This is my first full length novel by Sara Ney. I love her sense of humor, there were parts I laughed out loud. Overall this was an adorable and lovely college romance, very entertaining and in parts hilarious. I am looking forward to reading more Zeke's and Oz's story.

The Coaching Hours is my second book by Sara Ney and again I'm in love with it. I opened up the book and saw this: "Thank you, Internet, for providing the inspiration for the dating quotes at the beginning of each chapter. They're all based on real conversations, pick-up lines, come-ons, and texts between actual people." Let me tell you they are hilarious. Some had me laughing so hard while reading in bed that I had to stop reading and tell my husband what they said.
The wrestling coach has a daughter who is transferring to the college he works at and to put it mildly, he doesn't want any of his wrestler sniffing around his daughter.
He gives the guys some guidelines:
✦I don't want you befriending her.
✦I don't want you offering to play tour guide.
✦I don't want you dating her.
✦Be civil. Be gentlemen.
✦ Leave her alone. Are we clear?
Sounds easy enough but for a bunch of douchebags that can be challenging. Two douchebags, in particular, have a hard time following these rules.
Luckily, the hero isn't a douchebag. He's so focused on graduating and the future he's unsure about taking a risk with a girl who isn't graduating now. I really loved the hero even though there were moments where I felt like Sebastian the Crab from Little Mermaid, "Kiss the girl."
The whole premise of this story was fun . . . the big bad scary wrestling coach has a college-age daughter that decides to attend where her father coaches. She grew up across the country with her mother (who divorced her father when she was young). And then we have our hero who was formerly the roommate with a couple wrestling douchebags. He's popular by association and has a good handle on dealing with douchebags.
An angry coach/dad, his college daughter, a couple douchebags from the wrestling team, and the nice guy . . . throw them on the college campus and we've got the making for an entertaining story.
THE COACHING HOURS is the fourth book in the How to Date Douchebag series. It can be read as a standalone. Lovers of a nice guy falling for the off-limits girl will enjoy this college sports romance. Once the reader starts they won't want to put the book down. GREAT STORY!

It took me forever to read this book and NOT because it was hard to get through. Quite the opposite really. It was entirely too easy to enjoy, but because I knew this was the last book of the series, I wanted to savor it. I wanted to try to keep it at a slow simmer, gingerly making my way through until it was done. Unfortunately, all great things must come to an end and the douchebags definitely had a remarkable run, didn’t they? But then again, the last two books of the series weren’t about doucebags at all. They were about phenomenally nice guys. The unicorn nice guy you’d find while away at school. Elliott was easy to love and as the final story, his and Anabelle’s was certainly swoon-worthy adorable.

Like the promise of the blurb, there is no douche bag in this story. Instead we got a sweet, sensitive, hard working hero. A perfect take home boyfriend that you want your family to meet. And because of that, the first half of this book is kind of.... boring.
Until the final twist kicking in. Then it gets interesting. Miss Ney have this unique ability to write a very swoon, dramatic romance. She is, after all, my favorite NA romance author. She hits the right note with the lifestyle of NA navigating life. This book have a moral story that sometimes dream can crushed. But in return you get a wonderful surprise in life. A life turning surprise that makes your life upside down.
Overall I enjoy this book very much. But Zeke and Violet is still my favorite couple.

This book was just okay. Elliot was kinda cute nerdy guy. I didn't like him much after the second half. And Anabelle was useless. I didn't like her at all. When her dad tells her that Zeke is dating a girl with stutter, her reaction..

Yes, you dumb girl!!!!

This is an end to an era.
The last of the Douchebags, and I’m already mourning.
BUT, the author did them proud. She didn’t close the series with a BANG, instead she gradually allowed me to say goodbye. Throughout the book she gave character development where least expected, she closed supporting character arcs, and infused new maturity and adulthood into my beloved series. It was fitting, needed and a wonderful and warmhearted ending to an AMAZING series of books.
Reading The Coaching Hours just confirmed what I already knew, I deeply enjoy this author’s writing. Her quick witted dialogues, snappy comebacks, and endearing and personable characters. Her never ending supply of fresh plots, with unique twists, and arcs that could have easily slipped into cliques.
The Coaching Hours was everything a New Adult read should be. Sweet, sexy, and engaging. The college years are about exciting times, letting go, making new friends, and enjoying yourself. And Sara Ney excels more than any other authors by writing novels that convey all of that. Light hearted, fun and sexy.
From the very beginning I knew this: THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.
Which made me curious but also interestingly enough sad. I loved my Douchebags. But like I said The Coaching Hours was the ending of an amazing series, and it concluded with a story that was very unlike the others.
Both main characters were hands down incredibly likable. Either as best friend or boyfriend, they topped the charts of genuine and lovable. I adored their interactions, his way of taking care of her, and her inner strength to do what she believed was right.
Sara Ney, delivered a solid novel. A story that engaged, was thoughtful and fun to read. Quick and easy, exactly what I wanted – except sans Douchebags. If you love college romances, with a sweet and swoony hero, a strong and feisty heroine, and a supporting cast that surprised the hell out of me – this book is for you. The author’s signature style guarantees a captivating read and leaves you wanting more.
Fortunately more is coming – she is already writing her JOCK ROW series, same college more jocks – and my heart is jubilating. I hope some of those jocks show some signature Sara Ney douchebag qualities. ♡

Should have known we’d get here…
I honestly started this book horrified. The first person we’re introduced to is an absolute KNOB. But, Sara Ney holds a significant talent for getting me past KNOB status to…I think I love him…with a word or two. So, I settled in and braced for impact.
But, it didn’t come. Turns out, I got my heroes mixed up. At first, I’m thinking *Oh cool, we’re going to avoid the colossal mess of Douchebag status and head straight to - I’m an intelligent, respectful man, with a brain*. Don’t hate me, but I kind of wish we got the Douchebag come good storyline.
For the first half of the book, I thought I’d be trying to come up with a term for a female douche. Douchepurse? Douchehandbag? Doucheclutch? I struggled with Anabelle, her choices and her (supposed) burdens. She was just a little too immature and self-absorbed. I’ve come to appreciate the heroine’s in the Douchebag series for their intelligence, independence and positive attitudes. I just found Anabelle a little lacking.
A predictable storyline that was exacerbated by bad choices, immaturity and selfishness, left me sighing. I had such high hopes for the conclusion to this series. With the tease that the hero wasn’t going to be a douchebag, I was looking forward to a storyline where intelligence and maturity stole the day. To be honest, I think we were lied to. I’m pretty sure there was a douchebag or two lurking in The Coaching Hours.
I’m not going to go too far into the storyline because I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say that I did finish with a smile on my face. That closing scene with Rex…CRACKED ME UP!!

4 “douchebags and jockholes” Stars
Man oh man Sara Ney had me reeling at the beginning of this one!
With her signature wit and humor, she's penned an entertaining book that will make fans of the series rejoice! I for one, absolutely love this series and want more! I don't care how many more books Sara writes in this series, I'll buy and read every single one.
FYI...this one deviates just a bit from the douchebag motif. "There are no douchebags in this novel." The main characters are both excellent. Annabelle is a cool chick and Elliott is the absolute best. I fell so hard for him at the beginning. He's the type of man every woman wants! He's the best ever! Such and amazing, caring, friend and lover.
The secondary storyline and redemption, of sorts, at the end was worth the price of admission...a real treat.
Here's what I loved: The writing! As with all the books in the series, it's funny and quirly. Although not as over the top as the previous book, but really great execution.
The male lead is #Bae (see above mushy description).
The chapter quotes had my rolling on the floor! Some were absolutley hilarious. That's one of the features that's made the series a must read for me.
The storyline and trope are my faves! I loved the mini twist and was downright over the moon! Sare Ney or not, I'm always down with that.
I said all that to say, buy this book. You'll love it. Recommended!

In the interest of keeping this as spoiler-free as possible (as requested), I would like to give my general impressions on the latest (last?) entry in the D-Bag series.
The Good
There are certain expectations when you start to read this story. Expectations that come from reading ALOT of romance novels. I really appreciated that Ms. Ney did not stick to the expected, and those twists really worked for me. I absolutely loved the hero and heroine. Their relationships builds in a fairly believable fashion and you get a chance to get emotionally invested right alongside them. I was super impressed that this is a new adult romance that has a realistic way of dealing with that transition phase of your life, when so much of you is still in college but your post-college life is coming up sooner than you ever expected. There is a surprise obstacle that is handled responsibly and maturely. And last but not least, the one d-bag who has grown on me, like a fungus, has a redemption arc of sorts and I’m digging it. If he’s ever getting his own book, he needed to grow up and I like that this shows that growth.
The Bad
Nothing really. If you’re looking for flashy or big dramatic moments there are none, but I was ok with it.
Everything in Between
This does work as a standalone but there are several references to the earlier books, so if you hate reading out of order, that may bother a reader. It just made me want to re-read The Learning Hours and finally read the first two books, which are just sitting on my Mountain. So many books, not enough time.

This series is one of my favourite I 've luvd every one. So when I heard that there was goin to be another I was so happy. I was dying to know who we got next and I was super happy. This review is goin to be spoiler free so you have to wait and see how the hero is but I don't think you will be disappointed.
Anabelle is a brilliant character. She is funny sassy and independent. Being the coaches daughter was never goin to be easy. She has just got away from her mum so she want life to be a lil easier. But her dad is super protective and trying to have a college life with your dad there is super hard. So moving out of her dad place was a must. After some things happen she got close to the hero and they had a great relationship.I luvd how they were together it was so cute. They really did suit each other.
This story was really good I would highly recommend it. The author alway creates great stories and even better characters you can't help but fall in luv with them and Anabelle and the hero in this book were just great. I luvd every bit of this. I m still hoping for more of this series but whatever the authors does I know I 'll enjoy it.

This series is one of my favourite I 've luvd every one. So when I heard that there was goin to be another I was so happy. I was dying to know who we got next and I was super happy. This review is goin to be spoiler free so you have to wait and see how the hero is but I don't think you will be disappointed.
Anabelle is a brilliant character. She is funny sassy and independent. Being the coaches daughter was never goin to be easy. She has just got away from her mum so she want life to be a lil easier. But her dad is super protective and trying to have a college life with your dad there is super hard. So moving out of her dad place was a must. After some things happen she got close to the hero and they had a great relationship.I luvd how they were together it was so cute. They really did suit each other.

I got into this series a little late. Shame on me. Yes, I know! But once I started I was like where has this Sara Ney been all my life? She writes in an uncanny way that makes me feel like she’s writing specifically TO me and FOR me. Yes, her writing is freaking hilarious and emotional and sexy, but there’s just something about it that makes me feel it down to my soul. The characters are ALWAYS INCREDIBLE! The storylines are relevant and absolutely intoxicating. It’s the most fun I’ve had reading a New Adult Series in well…FOREVER!
In her blurbs for this series, Sara is always a little secretive on who the hero/heroine will be and then when you finally get your chance at cracking that baby open, you sigh with relief and absolute JOY on who it ends up being! And I experienced that same exact feeling when I cracked open the series finale - THE COACHING HOURS! Names aren’t important. All you need to know is that the heroine is a kick ass chick who says what’s on her mind and is never sorry for it. Our hero is a breath of fresh air…sometimes frustrating as hell, but he’s also a character that no matter how much you want to hit him upside the head, you still will fall HARD for him. I can’t wait to read the reactions when the readers find out who it is!
I’m extremely sad to say goodbye to this series and these characters. They’ve become somewhat of a family to me and I will never forget a single one of them. You can have your favorite, I know I have mine, but in the end, each and every one of these books has touched my heart and my young soul. I don’t read a lot of College Romance/New Adult Romances, but when I do, I put all my trust into the talents of Miss Sara Ney! She never disappoints and I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve. Fans of this series will absolutely MELT! Newbies of this series will become ADDICTED! Either way, everyone WINS! So um, definitely not my favorite one in the series. And trust me, I love this series. I remember having an ARC of this one and Shannon telling me how much she did not like what was going on while she was reading it so I just skipped it. I’m now revisiting the series through the audios and decided to give it a try. Yep, nope. Shan was right (as always!). While I loved the beginning, the last 30% was awful. A big no 👎🏻 from me.
There’s no wrestler in this story, but the heroine is the coach’s daughter, Annabelle. I will say that I really liked her in the beginning and for most of the story. The hero, what can I say? I liked him, until I didn’t. He was perfect until 70%. And then he left, and kept leaving, and IMO he became a douchebag himself and he was so ridiculously selfish. And Annabelle became weak, and a doormat and a shadow of who she was in the beginning. I’m not even going to go into the cliche plot twist at the end. But when the hero came back, he got an easy pass, he did not grovel enough and was quickly forgiven and I JUST CANNOT BUY IT! To the point where I actually wanted her to end up with someone else, someone that actually cared and was there for her. That’s how mad and disappointed was.
Anyway. I love Sara and her books, and I will definitely keep reading them. But this one completely missed the mark for me. Rating it 3 stars because of the audiobook.

This is a really sweet little read. A gorgeous friends-to-lovers story with all of the wit, humour and heartwarming feels that I have come to expect from this author and this series.
Anabelle is a junior in College, and is the daughter of wrestling super-Coach Donnelly. She’s newly moved to Iowa to be closer to her dad, and though he tells his boys that they are to keep their hands off his baby girl, she instantly becomes a target of douchebags looking to score.
When Anabelle learns that she is the at the centre of a cruel bet, humiliated and devastated, it’s nice guy Elliot that comes to her rescue on more than one occasion. And when Anabelle discovers that he has a spare room in his off-campus housing, she jumps at the chance to move out from her Dad’s smothering but well-intentioned love, and fully embrace the college life.
Nice guy, Elliot, will be known to fans of the series. As Oz and Zeke’s old roommate, he is the non-jock, non-douche of the series, and I loved getting to know the more serious, understated member of the crew. He’s an absolute sweetheart! Kind and caring, I loved watching him be there for Anabelle.
The friendship that develops between them is gorgeous. It’s easy and fun, and oh-so-natural, though with undertones of attraction it’s clear from the very beginning where it’s all going to go.
The chemistry between Anabelle and Elliot is fantastic. There is flirting and teasing, but it’s a bit of a slow burn as they figure it all out, and it was so much fun, with a sense of delicious anticipation, to watch things begin to change for them.
And when all of that pent-up sexual tension is released… holy hotness! It seems to be a match made in heaven! Except that real life has different plans for them. There are twists and turns, difficult choices, struggles and heartache and some surprising character development, and I loved how unexpected it all was. I thought it was really cleverly done, and I really liked the way it all played out.
While, for me, this book didn’t have the intensity of the previous relationships in the series, it was still a great read, and I was rooting for Anabelle and Elliot from the very beginning. There is a tie-in to the earlier books, with glimpses of Zeke and Rhett, and some oh-so-hilarious text messaging between Elliot and Oz, but this book can easily standalone. And as always, those chapter headings are a real treat!
I really enjoyed this one!

With The Coaching Hours our Hero is the Douchebag that never really was. He is not an athlete, and in fact by way of maturity, he has a pretty good head on his shoulders. It differs most in style from the previous books but I enjoyed the twist from the expected.
It’s best described as a friends to lovers romance with an element of coming of age. I really appreciated the bonus injections of fun from some old favourites, and wonder if there may ever be an opportunity to explore that further at some point.
Sara Ney’s Douchebags have hit the spot every time with their brusqueness and lovability. It’s a bittersweet end to a series that has been a source of great entertainment throughout its entirety. As eager as I was for this latest instalment, I really am sad to see it go.

I am almost at a loss as to what to say here. There's so much I want to just word vomit all out, but I really think to get the most out of this book you need to go into it as clueless as the rest of us.
So, I will try explaining my feels without any spoilers. First there's no reason not to read this book, there's no triggers, cheating, ow/om drama, nothing.
The writing lived up to the last three books although The Studying Hours is still my all-time favourite they can all be read as standalones if you really want to.
I really did enjoy every part of this book and from picking it up I couldn't put it down. So as completely uninformative as this review is I think I will leave it there and just say if you love the series this won't disappoint. If you're after a well written new adult standalone, dive in. Hopefully we get a lot more of this series to come.

Yet another solid one from Sara Ney. I didn´t like it as much as I did the other three in the series, but still a good one. It might have been liking the humor factor the others had, I found them a bit more fun. But still a good book.

I’ve been in a HUGE book slump. For what feels like months-but it looks like all I needed was a book about douchebags to cure me. But, in this case, there were no actual douchebags to be had. I’m actually shocked. Completely and utterly shocked. This book didn’t live up to its name and I think that’s a good thing.
Elliot and Anabelle are an unlikely duo. Right from the beginning of this book I didn’t see it coming. Didn’t see “them” coming. There was some back and forth with different boys, ones totally unworthy of lovely Ana-banana, and then she hit the jackpot. Elliot was amazing. Not DOUCHY at all. He and Anabelle hit it off right away and the rest is history as they say...or was it?
This book was a little choppy. Not going to lie. I loved the characters, even Rex, but I felt a bit jostled and it was almost as if Ney had a few ideas for this book and mixed them all together. Did it work out for me in the end? Yes. Was it her best? No. We’re these my two favourite mains? Yes! Was there something missing that I cannot pinpoint? Yes. Unfortunately, yes.
I did get pretty invested in the story because I was able to connect with Ana on a personal level. However, I still fee like these two young kids rushed into life too quickly-but I guess that’s how the story goes sometimes.
Ney did do a fabulous job getting me emotionally attached. She pulls on the readers heartstrings and she had the moves to back it up! I’m glad the series is over, and happy it ended on the note it did. I feel satisfied with the outcome and had a fun time reading How To Date A Douchebag, THE COACHING HOURS.
I must add, my absolute favourite parts of this book were the hilarious and totally inappropriate chapter previews. Just the BEST.

I adored this book but I will say that I feel like I needed more of them together.
Somehow I didn’t hate the third act conflict and that’s a feat in itself bc I usually cannot stand it.
At one point I really felt like the book was going off the rails but idk I read it all 🤷🏻♀️
ELLIOT was sweet and caring but so passive it was frustrating at times. ANABELLE was so funny and lovable but I really disliked what she did with Gunderson towards the end.
This book kinda confused me? But I liked it?
All I can say is that it was enjoyable and it kept me up wanting to finish it 🙃
