About us

CowParade is the largest and most successful public art event in the world. CowParade events have been staged in over 80 cities worldwide including Chicago, New York City, London, Tokyo, Prague and Paris.. Why Cows? This is a popular asked question. Simply, the cow is a universally beloved animal. The cow represents different things to different people around the world-she’s sacred, she’s historical, she connects us to our past-but the common feeling is one of affection. There is something magical about the cow that transcends throughout the world. She simply makes everyone smile. As an art canvas, there is no other animal or object that provides the form, flexibility, and contiguous breadth of a cow. The three shapes (standing, grazing, reclining) provide artists with subtle, yet interesting angles and curves to create unique works of art. The basic cow form is also benign so that it can be altered, transformed, and morphed into completely other animals, people or objects. Incredibly, over 2500 hundred Cows have been created worldwide, but no two are alike. CowParade is one of the few events that involves the entire community; corporations, local artists, charity and the public all share in the creation and success of the event. Below is a summary explanation of the different facets of the event. CowParade has featured both renowned, emerging and amateur artists. Over 5,000 talented and emerging artists from every corner of the world have participated in CowParade, the world’s largest art movement. Artists such as Romero Britto, Ai Weiwei, Patrick Hughes, James Rizzi, Oliviero Toscani, David Lynch and Red Grooms have created bovine masterpieces. Designers such as Michael Graves, Kate Spade, Vivienne Westwood, John Rocha, Elio Fiorucci and Christian Lacroix have fashioned one-of-a-kind heifers. Architects such as Robert A.M. Stern, Lord Richard Rogers, Lord Norman Foster and Professor William Allsop have designed sophisticated cow-structures.

COW TOY #DESIGNMEMORIES   CowParade is the largest and most successful public art event in the world. Originating in 1998 from an idea of Swiss sculptor Pascal Knapp, it soon became a worldwide event and an occasion for important charity fundraising. In 2007 we had the pleasure of participating in the edition held in Milan during the Salone del Mobile and intended to fund the projects of the non-profit Champions for Children Foundation. And children were our first inspiration for our cow, which we decided to treat as an outsized toy. We designed and made a blister pack that could contain the life-size statue of the cow, left white but equipped with two cans of colored paint so it could be ideally customized. The toy theme caught our imagination and we decided to get some toy cows, cans of colored paint and have blisters made equal to the giant one to package our cows. We worked day and night to hand assemble about a hundred sets, but it was worth it. This unique project allowed us to play freely with our imagination and do good, so it will remain in our hearts and memories forever.   Designed by Claudio Bellini for COW PARADE Champions for Children   #furnituredesign #claudiobellini #milanodesignweek #cowparade #pascalknapp #cowtoy Fuorisalone.it CowParade

CowParade New England presented by The Herb Chambers Companies has officially launched throughout Greater Boston to help the Jimmy Fund celebrate 75 years of progress and impact. This free public art display includes 75 cow sculptures, which have been transformed by a range of talented artists from throughout New England. Many of these artists have their own connections to cancer and to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, giving them motivation and inspiration to do their part to work toward a cancer-free future for all.  Three artists, each with their own connection to Dana-Farber’s mission, have graciously shared their stories and the paths that led them to join this celebration of the Jimmy Fund community this summer. Meet Yael Schulman, Tova Speter, and Lori Mehta. Read more about these artists and learn more about each of their cows on our blog! #CowParadeNE https://lnkd.in/e_iZuu-U
