Coty got its first big break when our founder, François Coty, ‘accidentally’ broke a bottle of fragrance while pitching it on the sales floor of a Parisian department store. The enticing scent lured waves of curious customers and, within months, Coty perfumes were being worn all across Paris #CotyHistory

What a great story, I worked for Cory for 18 years; I have fond memories of the history of the company and all the scents!

La Rose Jacqueminot by Coty: launched in 1904 the perfume, created by Francois Coty in 1903, was named after a highly fragrant breed of long stemmed cabbage roses first grown in France in 1853 who were named as a tribute for the famous heroic general of the Napoleonic war. (source Coty website)

Estee Lauder was the correct perfumer pitching the bottle.

This is actually not the correct story. That was another house. Btw, my grandfather was a Brander in the 50s-70s, and Coty was a major client. He had 8 patents, one of which was in use in Coty products til the 90s, early 2000s.
