After a national championship season for LSU, many Tigers players are expected to be first-round picks.
K’Lavon Chaisson, a red-shirt sophomore edge rusher from LSU, was one the key defensive contributors for the Tigers’ national championship season. Chaisson lived up to his high expectation during his final collegiate season, earning first-team All-SEC honors with 13.5 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks and 60 total tackles in 13 starts.
Chaisson didn’t participate in the 2020 NFL Combine, but he believes he is the most versatile player in the upcoming draft. “I’m the most valuable player in this draft,” Chaisson told Sports Illustrated. “When you hire someone, do you want someone that speaks one language or three languages? I can speak three — rush the passer, drop in coverage, and I can play the run.”
NFL analyst Lance Zierlein compares Chaisson to former Pro Bowl defensive end Aldon Smith: “Possessing an impressive diversity of moldable pass-rushing ingredients and moves, Chaisson has begun putting the recipe together to become a game-altering pass rusher. While some long-limbed rushers lack the bend and leverage to maximize their length, his fluidity and agility allow him to drop, corner, change direction and close in tight quarters or with extended range … It adds up to an increasingly confident projection as an impact pass-rusher with Pro-Bowl potential.”
