Head back in time to the Thailand of yesteryear on this fun and educational trip. Start with a demonstration of traditional rice production without the use of any modern machinery. See how Thai farmers of old used buffalo power in the preparation of the ground, and then get back to basics to discover other traditional steps in the labour intesive rice making process of old. You will also learn about traditional Thai houses. For example, the wooden house at the end of the rice field is typical of the abode of a poor family so the construction is very simple. Built from expensive wood with clay tiles on the roof, Grand Sriprachan House, on the other hand, is typical of the home of a more well-off family. During the day, you will also have the opportunity to learn about various other unique Thai customs before finishing with a Thai cooking class.

07:00 Travel from the designated meeting point in Bangkok to Buffalo Village Supanburee with breakfast included.

09:00 Upon arrival, receive a complimentary welcome drink, a herbal beverage made of Anthocyanin flower juice, an ingredient favored by the locals due to its benefits for the eyes. Next is an optional Thai Welcome Ceremony, which includes the ‘Bay Sri Su Kwan’ ritual where holy string is tied around guests’ wrists. Thais believe that this will bring good luck and ward off any bad spirits.

09:50 Station 2: Time to get your hands (and feet) dirty in this practical lesson on ground preparation and planting in the traditional style of Thai farmers from the olden days!

10:30 Station 3: Discover the steps of traditional rice production, from manually cleansing and massaging the rice grains until it is finally ready for delivery to the supermarket.
