      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Firefly earns its audience's adoration with the help of Nathan Fillion's dry delivery, a detailed fantasy world, and compelling storylines -- even if it doesn't stand with creator Joss Whedon's most consistent work.

Simon R They were nuts to cancel it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review melony b both the best of genre, Space Cowboys, and atop the fantasy genre rests Firefly, king of all. Really. In its run shortened only by network executive foolishness it captured the hearts of millions who independently endeavored to raise capitol to produce a second season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Martina M Je to moj 2 obľúbený sci-fi seriál nech to už restartuju Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Andrea G It's such a great show and I was so disappointed that it didn't continue. It's engaging, the characters are realistic, and their dilemmas and adventures are such fun! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Ryan N I never saw this show when it was on TV. It was not until the movie came out (Serenity) that I watched the show and loved it. The Movie stands alone to me, but the TV show was just an added pleasure afterward. Now I wish the TV show lasted longer than 13 episodes. I also wish there was a sequel for this story. There is so much more that could have been done with it and now I see why there were so many fans of the show who were pissed after it was canceled. The blame for the show not doing well in the ratings should go to the marketing department and the executives. I love Sci-Fi and when I saw the previews for the TV show, I was not intrigued enough to watch it. The show has action, comedy, adventure, and a hidden love story in the background. All the actors/actresses were perfect in playing their characters. Nathan Fillion was the best part of the show. I have now seen this TV show multiple times and wish there was more, like I keep saying it. They should do a mini-sieres or another movie! Hint Hint Joss Whedon! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Yamaha M One of my favorite series of all time, a must see for all sci-fi fans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic It's different and it's good, but Nathan Fillion is the wimpiest hero since Mr. Limpet. Feb 10, 2021 Full Review Glenn Garvin Miami Herald The dialogue is not quite as snappy as Buffy or Angel, but both those shows started slowly and built momentum. Firefly may do the same... It's a provocative mishmash of future shock and peculiar anachronisms. Feb 9, 2021 Full Review Mike Duffy Detroit Free Press "Firefly" blasts off in fine style. It's a lot of spaced-out fun. Rated: 3/4 Feb 9, 2021 Full Review Stuart Galbraith DVDTalk.com The key to shows like this is its characters and the way they interrelate. Though arguably overly-calculated in this regard, Firely's characters are immediately interesting and their personal stories and struggles involving. Rated: 4/5 Jan 29, 2020 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) Premiere is quite entertaining. Just don't go in expecting your average sci-fi, outer-space series. Go in looking for a Western with sci-fi touches. Jan 29, 2020 Full Review Tom Jicha South Florida Sun-Sentinel Without the patina of [Joss] Whedon's name, Firefly is just a nondescript adventure hour in a Friday time period in which Fox has had 11 different series in 11 years.
