The so-called 'Theatre of Dreams' is the home of Manchester United, one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in the world.
It first opened in 1910 and following expansion is the second biggest football ground in the UK after Wembley.
There are plans to increase the capacity to over 90,000, which would see it take over the top spot.
Old Trafford will host nine football matches during the 2012 Games, including one men's and one women's semi-final.
It will be one of six Olympic football venues, the others being Wembley, the Millennium Stadium, Hampden Park, St James' Park and Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
