Sagittarius Season Doesn’t Care. What to Expect Based on Your Sign

Whether you love it or hate it, it’s happening. Read on for our queer Sagittarius Season horoscope.
Sagittarius Season Doesnt Care. What to Expect Based on Your Sign

To the rest of the zodiac, Sagittarius is a polarizing sign. Sagittarians are smart, self-assured, and best (or worst) of all, they’re lucky. These are wonderful qualities in a friend but infuriating attributes in an enemy, and Sag individuals aren’t shy about making either!

Every Sagittarius is either adoringly cherished or absolutely despised depending on who you ask. They are simply incapable of inspiring ambivalence, and their insouciance in the face of other people’s opinions only intensifies the love or hate they inspire. But whether you like them or loathe them, you do not want to find yourself in an argument with a Sag. They have an archer’s accuracy at locating weak points in other people’s defenses, an uncanny ability to dodge rejoinders, and a ruthless appetite for victory.

Sagittarian customs are widely recognized but broadly misconstrued. Astrology meme accounts like to joke about the emotional dangers of getting involved with a Sag; there are all sorts of quips about impulsive plane ticket purchases and an insatiable longing for escape. Externally, there is an aura of “anywhere-but-here” emanating from any Sag, like they’re just waiting to break free from a dull work meeting or a boring dinner party.

But it’s not that Sagittarians often actually flee, per se; they’re very rarely running away from anything! They’re just always compelled to move toward things that truly capture their interest, and thus have little patience for any activity they feel wastes their time. They need to direct their energy into something they really care about. Consequently, Sagittarians are picky about the people they let into their inner bubbles, both romantically and platonically. If a Sag does decides to love you, they will build you into their heart as if you were part of the architecture all along.

Sagittarian luck is the defining hallmark of the sign, and it’s astounding to witness firsthand — they’ve all got mundane superpowers like immediately being able to find a good parking space. Think of any Sagittarius you know: they are all absolutely brimming with oddball life-improving idiosyncrasies, and they don’t even recognize it because they think that’s normal. That’s not to say that pain and grief never touch Sagittarius, or that a Sag can’t make mistakes, but if you know one or two of them closely over an extended period of time, it’s shocking to see how often their missed opportunities lead to better offers.

This season, the entire zodiac wheel is in for Sagittarian-style benefit as Jupiter turns direct in Pisces. The key to enjoying this kind of luck is to recognize its influence in small instances, rather than withholding your appreciation solely for major miracles. Furthermore, most of the signs (including Sag!) will be focused on healing from trauma and developing beneficial habits throughout the following weeks. Look for the easing influence of Jupiter in those areas.

Programming Note: Them’s Queer Weekly Horoscope will be on hiatus from November 21-27 while we all process this Sagittarius season forecast. Details on big occurrences this week appear below; we’ll be back with the weekly breakdown in time for December!

Sagittarius

Your season is about healing and habit, as the various bodies traveling through your space make friendly contact with the rulers of discipline and recovery. Conversely, your current celestial tenants aren’t very interested in cooperating with the representatives of energy, intuition, and even your own ruling planet of luck.

You enter your season boosted by both Venus and Mercury blessing your constellation. That’s romance and effective communication in your corner! Along with the Sun and Moon, they’ll take turns forming auspicious trine aspects with Chiron, the representative of healing, and supportive sextile formations with Saturn, ruler of responsibility.

Sag can feel prickly about Saturn and its domineering effect on the zodiac: Saturn is traditional and strict, whereas Sag isn’t typically the biggest fan of regimentation. In this case, though, it seems as though the two of you will interact productively, with you developing a consistent personal routine to get the results you want. Following rules isn’t the absolute worst when you make them for yourself. However this dedication to new patterns might manifest in your life, it will almost certainly act in service of healing psychological wounds. The rulers of the self, your emotions, your desires, and your motivation all strongly encourage you to tend to old injuries.

The New Moon on November 23 — which will be at its darkest in mid-afternoon — presages much of the continuing activity in your sign for the rest of the season. Passing through conjunction with the Sun, Venus, and Mercury, forming an approving angle of support to Saturn, it then disagrees with Neptune and Jupiter, holding aloof at a great remove from the driving influence of Mars.

This probably isn’t as bad as it sounds initially, as Mars is still in retrograde. While opposition from the direct-moving red planet usually imposes unwanted inertia, you’re currently better off avoiding it while it’s vampirically draining the willpower of anyone who gets too close. The disagreeable square aspects with the representatives of intuition and luck will force you to actually confront problems with intention and effort, rather than skipping blithely away to ignore your own healing.

Capricorn

For most signs, Sagittarius season is a time to party, to light up the night in defiant frivolity and ward off the chill of early darkness. Not Capricorn! (I mean, you will probably attend a few parties; you’re not totally joyless.) But to you, this is primarily pre-Capricorn prep time — a hustle to finish setting this year’s business aright before the fresh work of your own season arrives.

The Moon in your sign finds you off to a productive start, aligning pleasantly with Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Jupiter. Translated, that means imagination, instinct, regeneration, and luck all infuse your efforts. In December, Mercury and Venus move from Sagittarius to your space, where they both encourage you to postpone your focus on healing so that you can take a momentous step toward your future. Mercury’s following trine aspect with Uranus foretells a series of chaotic creative swings that will come once your own season arrives.

Aquarius

Your Moon in late November is aligned cheerfully with every celestial influence in Sagittarius, Gemini, and your own patch of the chart. But it’s squared at odds with your own sign ruler, Uranus, which is still hovering retrograde in Taurus. The pull between your own strange nature and the authoritative presence of Saturn in your sign has been the defining astrological conflict of your year. This season, the ringed planet is winning — but to your benefit! Imposing your own personal structure and control over your routines will ultimately allow your weirdness to flourish.

That’s fitting for the theme of the whole season: Sagittarius will be drawn into reckoning with Saturn over these next weeks, as determined by the paths of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and the Sun. You’ll feel the same influences from the opposite end, with emotion, motivation, desire, and the self all moving to support the planet of obligation and ambition. You’re likely to feel an unexpected sense of concentration and an impulse to prioritize your work as holiday party season gets underway. You’ll be in excellent shape to enact some New Year’s resolutions by the time Capricorn season rolls around!

Pisces

Wow. You’ve got an absolute banger of a seasonal forecast here. You’re currently hosting Jupiter and Neptune, both retrograde. But both will turn direct this season, moving forward to endow you with their respective powers at maximum intensity. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius and representative of good luck, reverses perspective course first. Beginning on the evening of November 23, the biggest planet turns direct for nearly a month in your sign before moving back to Aries at the end of this season. Your sign ruler, Neptune, turns direct on December 3 for a full seven months of forward motion in your sign! Your unnerving tingly extrasensory itchy feelings will be even more accurate than usual. Combined with a sense of ease bestowed by Jupiter, they’ll serve as an early warning system and a cushion of safety.

The only serious friction threatening to mar your perfect season happens during the Moon’s stay in your space at the turn of the month. In its first quarter phase, the Earth-orbiting, emotion-ruling satellite squares against all of the bodies in Sagittarius and Gemini, forming sextile aspects with Uranus and Pluto and conjunctions with Neptune and Jupiter. This could make you feel apathetic, unmotivated, and avoidant. But you’ll simultaneously be supported by the rulers of imagination, transformation, intuition, and fortune. Keep an eye on yourself as November turns to December to navigate any potential tumult that may arise, then enjoy the rest of your Sagittarius season!

Aries

You enjoy a kind Moon in early December. Waxing gibbous and generous, it forms a productively pointed trine with the Sun and then aligns pleasantly with the representatives of drive, discipline, desire, and communication. It should feel like a spark of familiar fiery energy, reviving you from your recent listless doldrum. Not that the extended period of slog is fully finished yet; the Moon will square disagreeably with the ruler of endings and beginnings on its way out of your domain.

It won’t last much longer, though! You’ve spent months hosting Chiron, the outer solar system centaur of wounding and healing. While it has been stubbornly retrograde in your space, you’ve been feeling fresh pain from old traumas. That will change in the first days of Capricorn season, when Chiron turns direct. And, shortly before that, on the final full day of Sag season, Jupiter returns to your space! Luck will be with you, and the hurts you’ve been hung up on will begin to shake out and sort themselves. Just four more weeks of the Sun in a fellow fire sign, and your fate should take a propitious turn.

Taurus

Like Libra, your fellow protégé of Venus, you’ll begin this season with an embrace of healing but end it with a rejection of relief. Your happenstance dedication to your preferred habits will help you get through a period of estrangement from your spiritual expansion in the first half of the season, but the most important event for you happens as Capricorn’s month approaches: your ruler Venus, arbiter of desire, moves into a harmonious trine aspect with the North Node in your sign.

The North Node — the point at which the Moon crosses to rise “above” the path of the Sun — represents your life destiny, the unknown future that you’re always striving toward. Regardless of its position at the time of your birth (which indicates the manner in which you approach your own fate), its ongoing presence in your constellation this year has pushed your life’s purpose to the top of your mind. Furthermore, you’re still hosting inventive, unorthodox Uranus, which will remain retrograde until early Aquarius season 2023. Whatever’s happening in your life now probably looks unrecognizably divergent from the way you’d thought it would have unfolded since the last holiday season.

In contrast to your ruling planet’s proclivities this season, the Moon in your sign during the first week of December loves bizarre intuition and freakish instances of luck. Rejecting discipline during its tenure in your sign, the Moon will incite further change in trine with Pluto on its way to fullness in Gemini.

Gemini

You and Sagittarius are the funnest set of sibling signs, no question. You’re terrifying to most of the zodiac when you get together, yes, but you’re undeniably a good time! In combination, y’all sort of give off the zany vibe of one of those old Nickelodeon children’s competition shows, where the participants wore mouthguards while flinging slime and scrambling to the top of the Aggro Crag. When another sign leaves a Sag and a Gemini alone together for 30 seconds, there’s a not-insignificant chance that they’ll find you both snapping gum in backwards Kangol hats and rollerblades when they come back.

Wait! Oh my god!! It just occurred to me that Gemini/Sagittarius friend pairings must be the only people still keeping the hacky sack manufacturing business afloat in 2022!

I kid (kind of), but the buddy vibe is real and effective. Though you’re still hosting retrograde Mars and your seasonal forecast remains gray, the influence of the Sun in Sag renders the experience more like sitting through a shitty day at school beside your mischievous bestie, instead of having to suffer through it alone. In its soggy retrograde state, Mars coheres to the trends of the season by aligning positively with Saturn and Chiron. It’s the aftermath of the Full Moon in your sign you need to watch out for: a simultaneous opposition from Venus and a square to Jupiter indicate that you should lay low on the second Friday in December.

Cancer

December will be your last full month with Lilith this cycle. The apogee of the Moon’s orbit from Earth moves to Leo in Capricorn season, ending the long dance you’ve enjoyed with your own dark side.

Your sign ruler, the Moon, sets the season’s tone of pragmatic organization during its New phase in Sagittarius. After reaching fullness in Gemini, however, it throws a wrinkle of opposition to Venus, representative of desire. At that time, you may feel a resentful wave of defiance against the necessity of your boundaries, even as you continue to enforce them. This will pass, but you should honor yourself by allowing yourself to feel those feelings, even if you don’t act on them.

The Moon in your sign during the second week of December is disinterested in transformative, major change, but promises a surge of oddball superficial luck. You might meet an Instagram celebrity squirrel, or unexpectedly discover a replacement for your favorite discontinued lipstick. Who can say?! Pay attention while Mother Moon is with you. The weirder the luck, the better.

Leo

Because your sign ruler is the Sun, your personal issues tend to be relevant to the overarching plots of every astrological season. Accordingly, you’ll feel a pull toward healing and structure in the coming weeks, working toward your goals despite feelings of insecurity and a lack of motivation.

You may hit an exhaustion point when the waning gibbous Moon travels through your sign in mid-December. It forms a supporting sextile aspect with Mars — which is acting out of character while in retrograde — but it makes a hostile square with imaginative Uranus and a complete opposition to the discipline of Saturn. The Moon rounds off this sequence by forming an encouraging trine aspect with your sign ruler, the Sun, and that’s significant: take some dedicated time alone to recuperate as the holidays get frantic at work and at home.

Virgo

Your rapid ruler Mercury followed Venus into Sagittarius only to overtake the second planet and beat it into Capricorn during the first week of December. Immediately before the season begins, it aligns in conjunction with Venus, then moves into a trine formation with healing Chiron before following the trend set by the New Moon in Sagittarius: opposition to Mars, sextile to Saturn, and square with both Neptune and Jupiter.

Routine and habit are in; dreamy fantasies and the unpredictable grace of good luck are out! After crossing the border to Capricorn, Mercury bides its time quietly in the 10th sign for a week before unleashing a fresh flurry of astrological interaction. First, a fortuitous trine with the destiny-revealing North Node, followed by a sharp square with Chiron, and further trine with Uranus. You’ll likely have to shove healing to the back burner to avoid distraction as you set foot on your future path. But then Uranus comes into the picture, which means things are gonna get weird.

The Moon in your sign in December is absolutely delighted with desire, momentum, innovation, and transformation, but opposed to serendipitous bursts of intuition. This isn’t anything much different from your usual factory settings: Virgos thrive by committing to regular practice and personal deadlines, rather than waiting for unforeseen windfall.

Libra

Your sign ruler Venus spends the first part of the season in Sagittarius and the next in Capricorn. The beginning of your Sagittarius season is dedicated to healing, but by the end you’ll be prepared to pause any grappling with past trauma in order to focus on the future. Venus throws out a number of “negative” challenging aspects this season: no to competitive motivation, no to starry-eyed idealism, NO to the ease of luck itself! You'll get through it all, though, thanks to a brief approving nod from Saturn, the planet of responsibility, early in the season — and ultimately you’ll find a serious clarity of purpose before the Winter Solstice.

You have an odd Moon in your sign leading up to Venus’s trine with the North Node. Shrinking from last quarter into waning crescent phase, it forms emphatically fortunate angles with Mars, Mercury, and Saturn, but shuns your own ruler Venus and regenerative Pluto. It looks as if you may make a choice that’s good and correct, but feels difficult to put into action — something you know you need to and therefore want to do, but that will stir rebellious feelings of grief or guilt in you anyway. The very next day, Venus slams the healing journey of your Sagittarius season to a halt in a hard square with Chiron. Not the gentlest season of the lot, but the revelations you gain will be necessary to move forward successfully into the next Gregorian calendar year.

Scorpio

On the first day of Sagittarius season, the dwindling Moon in your sign is reluctant to move forward but also feels disgusted by tradition and reminiscence. You’re honestly just done with everything the second you hand the Sun off to Sagittarius. But the following day, the Moon’s choreography is more upbeat. It twirls through a trine aspect with Neptune, sextile angle to Pluto, and another trine with Jupiter before sailing on to join the Sun in Sag. Inner understanding, rebirth, and prosperity — all of these influences usher you into a relatively calm, centering season, as other signs around you focus intently on their own internal issues.

You catch the Moon again at the end of Sag’s time with the Sun. This time, it collaborates happily with the rulers of romance, communication, intuition, and rejuvenation, while repeating its earlier avoidance of Uranus and Saturn. You are likely to stomp into Capricorn season feeling grumpy but grateful about your own hard-won personal growth.
