Sagittarius Season Is For Chasing Your Dreams. What to Expect Based on Your Sign

Sometimes the unconventional path is the best one. Read our queer Sagittarius Season horoscope.
Sagittarius

Sagittarius Season is officially upon us, so let me say a few words about Sagittarians themselves.

Sagittarians are blessed with an unhinged level of confidence. Some might describe Sag as “delusional,” but that’s just sour grapes. Sagittarian self-belief is solidly founded! Still, Sags have a knack for getting under other people’s skin. From an outside perspective, Sagittarians can appear deceivingly lackadaisical. In actuality, they’re getting shit done. A Sagittarius in productivity mode looks like they’re just goofing off, and then, suddenly, everything they had set out to do is somehow accomplished, even if you can’t pinpoint exactly when or how it happened!

Some people move through the world with the attitude that “failure is not an option.” To Sags, failure is not even a notion. It just doesn’t occur to Sagittarians that their wild ideas might not work out, and they remain fully committed to the bit. Every morning, Sagittarius wakes up, gets struck with an absolutely bonkers inspiration about something they want to do, then climbs out of bed to go Do That Thing. Once they’ve hatched a zany scheme, you cannot distract or dissuade a Sagittarius from action. They will never take the recommended route to reach any destination, but somehow they always end up getting where they want to go.

Sagittarians have less than zero respect for authority, and view instructions and commands as immediate cause for suspicion. They maintain an eternally toddler-esque capacity for wondering “why?” and you should never expect their cooperation if you can’t — or won’t — answer. They place their greatest trust in their own experience, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t open to changing their opinions. Sags are constantly doing stuff, so they never stop learning! In their rare moments of relaxation, they indulge in blissful bubble-brain periods of absolutely no thought before launching into their next round of shenanigans.

If you have a Sagittarius in your life, you will always be entertained, occasionally infuriated, but never bored. It’s like having a relationship with a cartoon character. Any given Sagittarius is a little bit like the Roadrunner, if he possessed complex interiority and had flashes of profound insight between dodging anvils. This season, Sag is concerned with healing and securing their future! To do this, of course, they will reject all commonly accepted paths of structure and discipline. Sagittarians always prefer to advance their goals in seemingly impossible ways, and as difficult as this approach might seem, the rest of us would do well to emulate them.

Sagittarius
Big Events:
  • The Sun and Mercury begin the season in your sign. Mars moves to your sign on Black Friday.
  • Mercury creates a trine with the North Node, squares off against Neptune, then travels to Capricorn.
  • The Sun and New Moon square off against Saturn, Lilith, and Neptune, and create trines with Chiron and the North Node.
  • Mars also squares off against Saturn and Lilith, and creates a trine with Chiron.
  • Your sign ruler Jupiter is in Taurus, where it creates a trine with Lilith.
What it means:

Like an arrow released from a bow, you’re flying to your future. Zooming along at high velocity, will you navigate your path with diligence and discipline? LOL. No! That nonsense is for earth signs! You’re floating really fast in Vibes City, baby.

Sagittarians are naturally suspicious people — and are sometimes even suspicious of themselves. This season will be notable for a beef between Neptune and other bodies in your sign. When you feel an itch of intuition, you’re going to side-eye it as a fantasy that can’t be trusted, and you know what? You might just be right! Correct or not, you’re likely to spend much of the month reacting to yourself the way you often do to others. Which is to say you’ll immediately act in a contrary manner to your own advice. I, for one, am not going to bet against you on this! Your odds are always too good! You usually know what you’re doing, even when you have absolutely no idea what’s going on.

You always hate being told how you “have” to do things, unless the instructions are delivered in a random YouTube video tutorial you have independently decided is trustworthy. It’s no surprise to know that you’ll blow off the dictates of Saturn this season. More strangely, you’ll also distrust your own urges to act out! Cue Sagittarius sitting at home on the couch as an act of rebellion. The lone exception to this trend occurs on December 3, when you might do something so outlandish that it perpetuates the legend of your wildness for years to come.

Your primary project for the next four weeks is healing, which you will approach in your own inscrutable ways. Do what you need to do, whatever that looks like! Whichever route you choose, you’re skipping merrily along the path to your destiny.

Capricorn
Big Events:
  • Pluto is in your sign, and your ruler Saturn is in Pisces. While in Libra, Venus squares off against Pluto, but after moving to Scorpio, Venus creates a trine with Saturn.
  • Mercury moves to your sign at the start of December! Mercury forms sextiles with Saturn and Venus, and creates trines with Jupiter and Lilith.
  • In mid-December, Mercury turns retrograde and reverses back through trines with Lilith and Jupiter, then a sextile with Saturn. Mercury will remain retrograde until the first day of 2024.
What it means:

The planet of love gets mad at the ruler of reinvention in your sign for a minute, then Venus hops over to the next sign on the wheel and strikes up a friendship with your celestial ruler of responsibility. Bad, then good. Whatever. you’ll live! The major action in your sign this month comes courtesy of that little talkative asshole of a planet, Mercury.

Mercury screeches into your sign on the first morning of December. For nearly two weeks, you’ll experience a golden stretch where you can’t speak a single word wrong. Pull out a pencil and take a note here: make the most of this time. From December 1-12, you’re a deity of communication! You can talk about your obligations, hopes, your darkest secrets and desires! You’ll easily be able to phrase everything understandably; everyone will grok anything that you say!

Then, Mercury turns retrograde. Starting December 13, try to keep your own counsel. Mercury will blast back through auspicious formations with the same bodies it consulted on its initial path through your sign. The arguments you encounter during this time will probably ultimately result in net benefit for your continuing life path. But it’s still going to mean fighting and feeling hurtfully misunderstood, and it will last until the first day of 2024. Protect yourself as best as you’re able.

Aquarius
Big Events:
  • Your sign ruler Uranus is retrograde in Taurus. While in Scorpio, Venus opposes Uranus.
  • The Moon in your sign squares off against Jupiter, Venus, and Uranus, but forms sextiles with Mars and the Sun.
What it means:

Let’s kick off this forecast with a little behind-the-scenes reveal, Aquarius: I don’t always write these forecasts in proper zodiac sequence. When I first took up duties as your official Them-strologer, I would begin with the sign of the season, then write on until I reached the end. Now, as a more experienced harbinger of doom, I map out the entire season in chronological order, then skip around to fill in explanations, depending on the overarching themes of the season and my mood at the time of writing. In this instance, I wrote the entire piece backwards, proceeding in reverse order to place you near the end of this season’s list.

This turned out to be a good call. I really like Aquarians, and y’all have had a rough astrological run lately. I don’t love delivering bad news, but at least now I know that several other signs are in for a season at least as crummy as yours, maybe even more so. Comfort in numbers and all that, you know? Solidarity in suckitude. Anyway, it’s not quite as bad as it has been lately. Venus is mad at your sign ruler this season, so you’re gonna have some issues with desire and attraction. The Moon in your sign is mad at your ruler, but honestly that feels usual to you by now, and your emotional energy will be on point with Mars’ cooperation! Basically, your Sagittarius season is one of those “hang in there!” kitten-on-a-tree-branch posters from the 1970s that proliferated in school guidance counselors’ offices in the ‘90s. You’re gonna be okay.

Pisces
Big Events:
  • Saturn and your retrograde sign ruler Neptune are in your sign.
  • Mercury and the Sun square off against Neptune.
  • On December 6, Neptune turns direct!
  • The First Quarter Moon in your sign moves through conjunction with Neptune.
What it means:

There’s a kinship between Sagittarius and Pisces. You might imagine that the mutable fire and water signs would be incompatible, but that’s not the case! You’re dissimilar, and you square off at odds on an astrological chart, but the two of you somehow manage to maintain a deeper mutual understanding. In a room full of strangers, Pisces can shoot Sag a look (or vice versa) and you both just get it. There’s a mystical cognitive connection happening.

This season, for you, is psychic as fuck. Your sign ruler Neptune has been in your sign for more than a decade at this point; it won’t move on for another couple of years. Your intuition is already supercharged by its presence, even when Neptune is retrograde, but when it turns direct again on December 6, you’ll find yourself surfing a massive tidal wave of spiritual perceptivity.

This is good! But just as you’re already aware from previous experience, heightened psychological sensitivity comes with its downsides. Communication may be difficult for a time as you struggle to absorb information that other people don’t even notice, and you might wish to switch it off so you can simply function “normally.” Just keep surfing, as always! You’re stuck with your superpowers; you really don’t have any other choice.

Aries
Big Events:
  • The North Node and retrograde Chiron the healer are in your sign. Mercury creates a trine with the North Node. The Sun and New Moon create trines with Chiron and the North Node.
  • Your sign ruler Mars moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius. Mars squares off against Saturn and Lilith, and creates a trine with Chiron.
  • Venus begins the season in Libra, where it opposes Chiron and the North Node.
What it means:

Healing: You’re doing it! Chiron is currently retrograde, but you’re dragging it along with you at a rapid pace of recovery. The North Node of destiny won’t wait for anyone, and you’re sprinting to keep up with its charge into the future.

The only major threat to your progress is Venus, which threatens to put a drag on your momentum with a dose of apathy. In this period, you could feel as if you’re robotically going through the motions, rather than being fully invested. Happily, this stage passes within the first two weeks of the season. And bless its sulfurous little heart, it’s awfully bold of Venus to imagine that it might seriously influence an Aries who’s already in motion. Your wants are much bigger than whims, and a handful of off days when your heart’s not 100% devoted to your work don’t stand a chance of derailing you from your ongoing mission.

Taurus
Big Events:
  • Jupiter and Uranus are both retrograde in your sign.
  • In early December, Jupiter creates a trine with Lilith.
  • Your sign ruler Venus begins the season in Libra, where it opposes Chiron and the North Node, and squares off against Pluto.
  • Then Venus moves to Scorpio and creates a trine with Saturn, opposes Jupiter and Uranus, and forms a sextile with Lilith.
What it means:

You’re in the mood to be bad, and fortunately for you, Sag season is the perfect time for self-indulgence. While your sign ruler Venus is in its other favored sign, Libra, nobody better ask you to do anything. You’re not healing, you’re not planning, and you’re definitely not making any constructive life changes. You’re much too busy with a jam-packed schedule of doing exactly what you want and only what you want at every given minute in time, nothing else whatsoever!

Once Venus moves to your sibling sign, Scorpio, your mood might shift to putting in a little more effort, but only in the service of digging comfortably into your shadow side. For the moment, you’re tired of the generosity and creativity your charges Jupiter and Uranus bring to your sign, just temporarily worn down by overexposure. That’s okay! As all Taureans know, sometimes it’s necessary to be “lazy” and to satiate your own selfish whims. Go ahead and initiate vacation mindset, and spoil yourself with plenty of gifts in the month leading up to the holidays.

Gemini
Big Events:
  • The Full Moon in your sign squares off against Saturn and Neptune; opposes Mars, the Sun, and Mercury; and creates a trine with Venus.
  • Your sign ruler Mercury begins the season in Sagittarius, where it creates a trine with the North Node and squares off against Neptune.
  • Mercury moves to Capricorn, where it forms sextiles with Saturn and Venus, and creates trines with Jupiter and Lilith. Then Mercury turns retrograde and reverses back through trines with Lilith and Jupiter, and a sextile with Saturn.
What it means:

Oh, buddy. You’re hosting the Full Moon and contending with your sign ruler Mercury’s retrograde this month. It’s gonna be a fun one! That is, if you define “fun” as “runaway off-the-rails and out of control.”

This Full Moon is dangerous. It loves love; it will encourage any indulgence of desire! But it hates responsibility and common sense, and it will totally ignore self-assertion, protection of ego, and effective communication in order to satisfy immediate wants. If you’re harboring a crush at the moment, it might be safest to ask a trusted friend to chain you up like a werewolf for the entire three days of the Moon’s journey through your sign. If you’re free to act on your own inclinations during that time, you’re liable to make a whole fool of yourself in pursuit of lust.

Mercury’s travels through Sagittarius and Capricorn are also treacherous. First, Mercury promises progression toward the future while purposefully shunning the warnings of your instincts. Then your patron planet refines the Full Moon’s blunt impulses into actionable plans, while amping up your confidence and your dark side. When it turns retrograde on December 13, Mercury reiterates its message of support for outlandishness while it careens backwards through its recently established relationships.

Your best bet is to set some solid boundaries in place before the season gets underway! Once the ride starts, you won’t be able to exit until it’s over.

Cancer
Big Events:
  • Your sign ruler the Moon is Full in Gemini, Last Quarter in Virgo, New in Sagittarius, and First Quarter in Pisces.
  • The Moon reaches the apogee of its orbit and passes through Lilith in the first week of December. The Moon is closest to the Earth on December 16.
  • In your sign, the Moon creates trines with Saturn and Neptune, forms sextiles with Jupiter and Uranus, squares off against Venus, and opposes Pluto.
What it means:

This season’s Full Moon is for impulsive decisions. The Last Quarter phase helps you reorganize in the wake of spontaneity. The New phase is for plotting enormous, previously undreamed-of moves in your life. Finally, First Quarter checks in on how you’re feeling about it all.

The Moon is closest to the Earth immediately before the start of Sag season, then again on December 16. You’ll feel powerful at these times, and heavy with the weight of potential. Your satellite sign ruler is farthest from the planet on December 4, when it swings way out to touch base with shadow ruler Lilith. At the apogee of the Moon’s orbit, you often feel distant from other people because of your innate pull to withdraw deep inside yourself.

In your own sign, your ruler champions responsibility, intuition, ambition, and creativity, but it spars with the representative of desire, encouraging you to delay major life change. Honor your feelings! They may shift quickly as the Moon continues its orbit, but taking the time to recognize and respect your emotions will rarely lead you wrong.

Leo
Big Events:
  • The Moon in your sign creates trines with Mars and the Sun, squares off against Jupiter and Uranus, and forms a sextile with Venus.
  • Your sign ruler the Sun squares off against Saturn, Lilith, and Neptune, and creates trines with Chiron and the North Node.
What it means:

You’re muscling your way toward establishing your future, fighting through a gauntlet of obstacles created by external authority, internal selfishness, and the persistent call of idealism. You want to take on the challenge, though. You’re prepared to power through any difficulty to eventually reach your destination, and adversity can only strengthen your resolve.

At the start of December, the Moon instigates some emotional challenges when it fights with the representatives of invention and expansion, but once again the stress serves to fuel your commitment to your main quest. You have motivation, energy, and an overwhelming desire for progress in your arsenal. You will bravely defy any fresh hindrance that attempts to waylay you this season, forever refusing to fall down.

Virgo
Big Events:
  • Shadow ruler Lilith is in your sign. The Sun, New Moon, and Mars square off against Lilith. Jupiter creates a trine with Lilith, and Venus forms a sextile with Lilith.

Oof! Oh my. You’re in for an epic journey to and through your psychological shadow with Lilith this season, and you won’t feel eager to start it. The rulers of ego, emotion, and action are all openly resistant to Lilith. When you relentlessly suppress all of your selfish, “unattractive” urges, they start jutting out through your veneer of civility at embarrassing moments. This is more of a warning, and less a piece of actionable advice — you might currently be clenched so tightly that you physically can’t let your guard slip. You’re too afraid that if one little bit of darkness sneaks out, your whole world will collapse into a howling maelstrom of chaos.

This is, unfortunately, not an unfounded worry. Everything might implode catastrophically, especially once your sign ruler Mercury turns retrograde! But take heart: By that time, the mayhem will actually start feeling good. Your supervillain era will be legendary, and the havoc you wreak will clear out much-needed space to stretch and expand your emotional life.

Libra
Big Events:
  • The South Node and your ruler Venus begin the season in your sign.
  • In your sign, Venus opposes Chiron and the North Node, moves through conjunction with the South Node, and squares off against Pluto.
  • Then Venus moves to Scorpio, where it creates a trine with Saturn, opposes Jupiter and Uranus, and forms a sextile with Lilith.
What it means:

In contrast to the typical Sagittarian urge to seek novelty, you’ll feel like wallowing in the familiar this season. Your sign ruler Venus craves connection to the past, cuddling close with the South Node in your sign. The representatives of healing and the future are far away and irrelevant. Don’t even bother to consider upcoming steps! This is a time to snuggle up and relish the present.

Then, when Venus moves to Scorpio, you’ll become obsessive about tunneling into your own internal shadows. There’s important stuff hiding in there, and it won’t even begin to stir until you’ve dedicated a significant period of time to sitting still. You need to become an ambush predator in order to confront your own issues. Pretend you’re a tarantula and build a little burrow to settle in and wait. When your self-destructive urges feel lulled into a false sense of security and come skipping out to play, you’ll be ready to pounce on them and gain some insight into your own inner workings.

Scorpio
Big Events:
  • Mars begins the season in your sign, then quickly moves to Sagittarius.
  • While in Libra, Venus squares off against your sign ruler Pluto.
  • Then Venus moves to your sign, where it creates a trine with Saturn, opposes Jupiter and Uranus, and forms a sextile with Lilith.
What it means:

In The Vampire Chronicles, antagonist-turned-antihero Lestat de Lioncourt’s birthday is November 7. This is because author Anne Rice assigned Lestat the same birthday as her husband, Stan Rice. Lestat is older than any 20th century human, however! Using details that he drops in his fictional autobiography The Vampire Lestat, fans have calculated that the blond bisexual icon was born in 1760. This November 7, I was struck with a sudden inspiration to look up Lestat’s natal chart. I picked an approximate location in the Auvergne region of France to serve as his birth city and then laughed and laughed when the results came up. The astrological profile of this character is hilariously appropriate.

We all knew Lestat was a Scorpio Sun sign, and his Moon and Mercury placements fall in Scorpio as well. That explains a good bit of his personality already. But what about, you know, the whole interlude when he starts a rock band to illicitly reveal the existence of vampires to the mortal world because he feels lonely? What about him trading his superpowered vampire body to an amoral human psychic just because he’s bored?! What about the time he spends an entire novel debating religious cosmology with the actual Devil, who wants to recruit Lestat as an adversary to God, but then ultimately declines because he’s not a joiner?

Friends, Lestat de Lioncourt’s natal chart explains all of these events and more: The dude has four Sagittarian placements! His Venus, Mars, Pluto, and Lilith are all in Sag. No wonder this fictional vampire can never rest. He is damned to an eternity of recklessness! He will never remain content with his circumstances. Scorpios, consider this your reminder to check your own birth chart for Sagittarian placements. They’ll let you know where and how to be bold this season, so you can properly shake up the plot of your own life.
