Nikki Cox's career started early, as she first appeared on stage at the age of 4 in a variety of ballet productions. Living in Los Angeles, she continued to work in the entertainment industry with her mother as her manager. Cox's first credited role was on an episode of the sitcom "Mama's Family" (NBC/Syndicated 1983-1990) in 1987. After that, she appeared in one-off roles on several shows, including "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (Syndicated 1987-1994), "Night Court" (NBC 1984-1992), and "Murphy Brown" (CBS 1988-1998). At the start of the 1990s, she appeared in a small role in the blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991). From 1993 to 1995, she recurred on the soap "General Hospital" (ABC 1963- ). After her time there ended, Cox starred as middle child Tiffany Malloy on the sitcom "Unhappily Ever After" (The WB 1995-2000). Tiffany was a breakout character, and when the show was cancelled after 100 episodes, the show "Nikki" (The WB 2000-02) was designed to focus on the budding star power of Cox. However, the show fizzled out and was cancelled before every episode was aired. Her starring vehicle gone, Cox joined the cast of the drama "Las Vegas" (NBC 2003-08), though she was only on the show for four of its five seasons. On the set of "Las Vegas," she met comedian Jay Mohr, who she married in 2009 and had a son with in 2011. For the rest of the 2000s, Cox sporadically appeared on TV shows, but for the most part, faded back into a supporting role, often working with Mohr to write material for his stand-up comedy. Following a protracted court case, the couple divorced in August 2018.
