Lamborghini creates 'most extreme' sports car
Lamborghini is referring to its new Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse as a way to experience the emotion of the race track in a street car. We just think it's probably a lot of fun.
The Squadra Corse, a reference to Lambo's new racing department, has the same 570-horsepower V-10 engine, rear wing and removable engine hood as its race cars. And it derives the same benefits from them — unbelievable quickness, ground-hugging ability and fast pit stops. Lambo calls it the "most extreme" Gallardo yet.
But it is, after all, a street car with such luxuries as, well, a glove box. Want more comfort? You can substitute ordinary seats for the standard racing seats.
As comfortable as it is may be, there will be no mistaking its race-bred response when drivers step on the gas pedal. Squadra Corse sprints from zero to 62 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds. Zero to 124 mph comes in a blazing 10.4 seconds. It tops out at 199 mph. It is paired with a six-speed transmission with paddle shifters.
To add to its quickness, weight was kept to a minimum through the use of carbon fiber.
