Former North Dakota TV reporter Roxana Saberi, who was imprisoned in Iran for 100 days in 2009, has joined CBS News as a London-based correspondent.

Saberi reported for KVLY-TV in Fargo from 2000 to 2002 before working for several major international news organizations in the Mideast and Asia. Before joining CBS, she was a correspondent for Al Jazeera America.

She also spent six years in Iran, where she was imprisoned on allegations of spying for the U.S., a charge she denied. Her book on her experience there was published in 2010.

Saberi was born in New Jersey and raised in North Dakota. She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1994 and from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1997. She was also crowned Miss North Dakota in 1997.
