Datas about the OKW bunkers in Saint-Germain (France)

Hello,

I'm looking for informations, datas, drawings and texts about the various bunkers and shelters made in the town of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (about 25 km west of Paris).

For your information, this town was chosen for the massive OKW bunker complex, where von Rundstedt and other high military commanders lead the Normandy campaign, until the liberation of the town, in the last days of August 1944.

The city is scattered with different kind of concrete fortifications, near the Chateau, the old garrison and various places. But the main construction, planned for the High Headquarter is in a closed area and remains very mysterious :(

By the way, I found only one photo of this fortification on a strange website (absolutelly not dedicated to WWII ) :

I also checked a very good website about the fortifications in the Paris area. It lists, maong many other cities, all the german construction in Saint-Germain-en-Laye :

Hi Romeo.
Have you tried to contact the WEB-master; I did on a different subject and he helped me a lot. Actually this is how I also have expanded my net-work, if I come across an interesting site I try to write a P.M. I seldom get disapointed.

Romeo, merci! I went to that 'fortifs' site, and it was quite interesting. Not the sort of stuff I usually look into, but interesting nonetheless.

Vauban... An interesting man, to say the least!

Glad it could help you :D

@ MK108 : Yes, I know there's an issue of the very good "39/45 Magazine" which talk about these fortifications. Unfortunatelly, I haven't find it yet, even at the store of the publisher in Paris ! :|
